Looking good there, Sandy -- I especially like those Mosin Nagants! Do you get a chance to shoot much there in California? Is 7.62 x 54r surplus ammo available, or do you have to have it shipped in from elsewhere? Thanks for sharing your nice weapons!

Turners sells 7.62 54R for around 12 bucks a box, I generally order all my ammo from CTD.com. Where do you order your 7.62x39 ammo?timmy wrote:Looking good there, Sandy -- I especially like those Mosin Nagants! Do you get a chance to shoot much there in California? Sandy:
I have had very little opportunity to shoot much 7.62x39 (have an SKS "Paratrooper" and an NHM 91), but a number of years ago, I got a few thousand rounds through Cabela's when it was still pretty cheap. Since then, the price has gone through the sky and I haven't ordered anymore. For the 7.62x54r, I got mine through Military Gun Supply, because I didn't have to pay for shipping, and also from Mickey's Ammo Depot in Caddo Mills. I still have 4 x 440 round tins of Hungarian Heavy Ball (the yellow tip stuff -- my M39 loves it!) left that I was getting from Military Gun Supply (I've gone through 2 or 3 others), and a 300 round tin of Bulgarian light ball from Mickey.
Incidentally, I got my Finn M39 from Military Gun Supply, along with 4 M91 barreled actions. The M91/30 came from Cabela's. From Mickey, I bought my RFI 2A. Mickey is a pretty decent guy.
I have also gotten a gun and ammo from AIM, and have gotten good service from them.
Do you have a better link for CTD? I'd like to check them out.

Re: My rifle Collection
sorry i meant cheaperthandirt.com, do check out their shooters blog, some very interesting articles there, although the prices aren't the best but the service is top notch, never had any problems with them. Another surplus website i have been looking at is jgsales.com, they apparently have some surplus makarovs, tt-33 and nagant pistols, I was thinking one of each.

No offense to you guys. this is called rubbing salt on the wound ( for us Indians who have to pay more than that just for a tin of imported airgun pellets.)

I've long been kicking around getting one or more of the old Russian/Soviet Nagant revolvers. I'd like to, but really don't need to add another caliber and reloading project at the moment. Still, for reloading and casting bullets, Nagants would be a fun choice!
From my youth up to ~ 15 years ago, I specialized in 7 liter+ engines. Actually, I'm glad to be away from them now. I have read that Tata is supposed to come out with a turbocharged diesel Nano, and that sounds pretty interesting to me.big engines on their cars
I do have a 1956 Harley Davidson; it is a flathead (that old-time configuration I have an affinity for), but I've always been jealous of the Brits over those wonderful Vincent V twins. Lovely machines!and v twins on their bikes
I used to drive over to Ft Worth to visit them, but now there is a new store branch that's opened up about 15 miles from the house. I've been through the new store and they don't have that old time sort of surplus that was fun, and it doesn't have all the "junk" that the old store had. Maybe the old store doesn't carry that stuff anymore, either.cheaperthandirt.com
J&G has been around for awhile and I've been in there a couple of times, years ago. However I never bought anything from them. They are a good source of guns and ammo, however.Another surplus website i have been looking at is jgsales.com

Should be an interesting cartridge to reload.timmy wrote:I've long been kicking around getting one or more of the old Russian/Soviet Nagant revolvers.
