Sanjay,
HOw do you get hi pressure steam at home?

Asif and Sanjay

Very simple take a big size pressure cooker and stick the pipe into pressure nozzle instead of the weight. Remember to lower the temperature or the pipe shouldn’t be blocked This technique was used for an experiment ;> that went awry it blew the lid. It should work for water though..

cheers

Grewal,Asif
There is no need for high pressure steam, atleast to clean barrels. So why experiment with blow outs.
The fabricated can is absolutley safe and gets the job done.

Grumpy,

Thanks for the reply.

Herewith four pics. The first two show oiled bores and the latter two dry bores.

I guess this is pitting. I will try the method recommended by you and Mark and post back with the results.

Thanks.

Rusty,
And now I am convinced that you are a very determined and patient person.
Like to get to the bottom, aint over till it aint done.
And you aint givin up till you have the whole enchilada.
But then dont let your heart rule the mind.
Just enjoy the gun.
Now go out and mpty a few boxes.Happy shooting.
Cheers
Sanjay

Sanjay,

I am only patient when I have no choice. ;)

Well, I have been working on the bores and there has been an improvement but there is still some way to go.

As suggested, I am going shooting and have cleaned and oiled everything and looking forward to the weekend. Have to do some pattern testing and will use the remaining rounds (we only get 25 rounds per visit) to shoot from stations 1 and 7. I am not sure if the trap machines are working and my friends only shoot skeet. Being a combi-range, it's either trap or skeet at any one time.

Just that the steel has no polished surface and is `open` and probably porous, Usually occurs as a result of damp damage - near 100 % light surface rust which, when removed, leaves a slightly rough, unpolished surface.

Doesn't look bad at all... I'd leave it be... unless of course you plan to sell it - in which case it might be a good idea to make the extra effort for a better price...

Cheers!

Would polishing the bores in the manner discussed earlier 'shut' the steel or does it require something else?

Thanks.
