Anybody know if S&W border guard knives are good?
I would rather hit my target gently than miss hard.

Good for what?
If UR planning any serious use, I'd recommend against it. Its a second kind of cool, fondling or flashing blade at best. Like most blades with the S&W Logo. And do you really need the seat-belt cutter? Or the weirdly modified tanto tip? Its usually made in china with questionable fit and finish and of softer 440A type steels. S&W sells rights to use their logo and has little to do with the knives themselves. Far removed from their exceptional firearms.
Buy a knife from a knife company. See if U can find a Kershaw. They are also Chinese made but miles better F&F for not much more money and in a decent steel like 8Cr13MoV heat treated to a good hardness.
