Need a price check for a Remington 700 BDL....

Post by Mack The Knife » Thu Mar 29, 2007 7:30 am

... in .30-06

My friend is interested in buying one.

The one on offer has had it's stock revarnished, the front swivel stud replaced with something local and the bolt has quite a bit of pitting (pic to follow later). Other than this the bluing is in good condition, the bore clean and shiny and everything works as it should.

What would be the price for such a rifle, particularly in North India?

BTW, could someone date the rifle for me. The Remington site wasn't much help. The serial number is 6530XXX.

Thanks.

Regarding the price, checked with a dealer on tel.
For this model looking at min 2 plus, depending on the condition, did describe it to him though.
Whats the quote in Blore.
You might want to check with penpusher and Danish for prices in Punjab and UP.

ahhhhh....a remi 700 that too in 30-06 :D

so close and so far :( !

best of luck for the deal! wish i was there to at least stroke the gun. remi 700s are a personal favourite, even if i've always had stock-cheek fit problems!

Mack The Knife,

That pitting on the bolt body looks like salt-spray or acid damage, check if this rifle's been re-blued, you really have to give a damn bout something if you want that sorta corrosion to take place, nothing but improper care. Bolt seems to have been stored separately in a relatively "safe" place somewhere for a long time, possibly in the loo, behind the flush-tank! Just blowing a lil steam here, I hate to see something like this happening to a good gun.

Sanjay,

Thanks for the price check at your end. Asking price on this is a whopping 5.25 lakhs but there's no way my friend is paying that sort of amount.

Zubin,

You are right about the bolt being stored seperately. As far as I can tell, the bluing is original and in pretty decent nick. Send off that e-mail over the weekend, please.

This rifle is between 4 to 5 lakh in U.P. in the condition which you have told us but if its a brand new then the price goes up to 8 lakhs.

Remember what penpusher remarked that with IOF coming out with .3006 so one can use that info as bargaining chip..

Rs 5.25 Lakhs ..blame it on inflation and weakening dollar !!

It looks that Rifles and Guns are more expensive down South, while Handguns cost more this side.
If the IOF does come out with a 30 06 variant,be rest assured that the prices will come crashing down.
The effects can already be seen in tha case of Revolvers.
But are they coming out with a 30 06,can this info be validated by anyone.

Mack The Knife if your Buddy has an All India, then wouldnt be a bad idea to search this side.

Thanks

Thanks, Danish and Navdeep.

Sanjay, I have been hearing about the IOF .30-06 since the past five years but nothing seems to have materialised yet.

This friend does not have an All India Licence but he has located a few 06's in Bikaner and Bombay. If he has to, he will travel to check the rifles but would prefer to avoid this added hassle and expense if he can find one in Bangalore.

Hi,

Rifles 30-06 Bore by IOF are almost ready. Shud be in the market soon.

It won't be available through gun dealers I heard. Might be sold like Revolvers & pistol or thru rifle associations. Prices will surely come down. So may be the 30-06 which we have to buy wont cost a fortune any more. Even 315 Rifles are now being manufactured in some ord factory I think Trichapalli. The prices of that shud also come down.

AC,

Is this a shot in the dark.

How reliable is your source wrt information regarding 30 06.

And the Rifle Factory is in Ichapore,WB not Trichi.

You can't say anything regarding price of 30.06 cause it is selling like a hot cake in U.P. All mafia's and their goons are having 30.06 with them. I know one such MLA who has bought a brand new 30.06 in 13 lakh rs. I was just shocked when i heared the price. But they have money and they can buy anything. You can also get a 30.06 in 1.25 to 1.5 lakh as i have quoted the price in this forum for BSA 30.06. It depends on the condition of the rifle.

If one has a dealer friend, and you find the firearm in a different state and have no all India lisence,is it possible for the dealer to make the buying and selling to you?Just a thought.
