Airgun carry

I have an airgun, can i take in a metro, railways, through tolls or if a policeman searches you then and you are found with an airgun then what you should do? I will be returning from haridwar to delhi using public transport, how can i assure that my new bought gun will not get me in a fix

carry the bill given by seller
dismandle the gun if possible

Carry it in its original box and keep the bill that says it's an air gun.Should not be a problem.

Legally no problems (as you may have the bills to show that it is an AR), but not sure how the Metro Security will react (is very individual reaction) - you could always take a bus.

Sometime back I travelled in Delhi metro with my IOF .32 Cal. revolver. In the metro station, before going through the metal detector machine, I informed one of the guard standing there that I had a revolver with me. He called me to one side where his senior was sitting. His senior noted the license details in a register and then allowed me to go.

From metro station I went to the bus stand. There, in the bus stand, was also a metal detector machine installed. I went through it and the machine started beeping loudly as soon as I passed through it. There was a constable standing nearby who asked me what I had. I said that I had a licensed revolver. He checked the license and then allowed me to go. The policemen were quite cooperative at both the places.

In case you encounter police checking anywhere I would advise you to inform the policemen beforehand that you have an air gun with you and then show them the bill. Legally there is no rule that stops us from carrying an air gun therefore I don't think you will have any kind of problem.

I'd like to add a note of caution here. In case you are carrying an airgun which looks like a real firearm (for e.g. a CO2 powered PPK/s, CP88, etc.) - expect to be detained for sometime while the police confirm that what you have in your possession is really an airgun and not a real firearm. I am assuming that you would be carrying said airgun in a proper case/ bag etc. and not in a holster... the latter being a really bad idea in so many ways (security personnel being the least of it).
