Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
I have one I O F .22 Rifle. It is good.
But it is Indian tradition to be not seriously good in finishing.
What can we do.

Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
I believe the IOF .22LR is selling for somewhere in the range of 40K these days. Production of the rifle has stopped, don't know if this is temporary or permanent, therefore dealers are now charging a premium on the official price which is supposed to be something around 27K.

Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
Price of .22lr sporting rifle (from IOF website) is Rs. 42,810 (ex-Ishapore). Add 27K ----> 70 K !!mundaire wrote:I believe the IOF .22LR is selling for somewhere in the range of 40K these days. Abhijeet, is the 27K premium for Ishapore made or the Tiruchirapalli made rifle ? The Tiruchirapalli stuff sells for more, especially in Punjab .

Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
Hello mi freinds ,
i have also become the proud owner of a iof. 22 rifle , i was looking for a good rifle and thanks to mr Mack The Knife whose experience and en devour had made me desisive of buying a .22 rilfe instead of a big bore 315 or 30-06.
i came acros a used 2000 model sparingly used gun . i bought it locally in a price range of 35,000 . bluing has to be done and stock needs to be rectified.
it may land me around 40,000 . as soon as i am done with all the requirements i will post the pics.
regards

Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
Hi,
I purchased a brand new .22 IOF from a dealer. There is a gap of 15 mm between barell and wooden arm rest...... if we look from the front of barell. But other wise barell is tightly fixed. Is this gap intended or its again workmanship blunder of IOF monkeys

Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
A 1.5 cm gap between barrel and forearm has to be intended, or the guys at IOF have got their manufacturing practices all mixed up! However, if the gap is 1.5mm, the previous owner or dealer may have tried to free float the barrel.

22 Rifles have not been produced since 2008 I guess...and no new stock has come from the factory recently...so check the year of manufacture to know how old it is..

Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
Any idea why IOF has ceased production of these rifles?

Had called up a day before to the marketing department IOF Kolkata to find wheather production still on. Knew that at the moment production of .22 Rifle is ceased, but ,likely to resume after 3-4 months, They are not accepting even booking amount.

I checked four of these new rifles from a dealer a few months back, but the the fit and finish was far from satisfactory. Starting with: the machined surfaces were rough, the bolt had lot of play, the wood looked cheap and was not fitting closely etc. After checking out all those suppossedly brand new rifles, I simply fallen in love with a 50 yr old remington 15 shot tube. And brought her home after paying more than double the price of a IOF .22 rifle(There were marked difference between the two in appearance:- like PT Usha and Aishwaria Rai). Recently, I bought a 4x32 scope through net and she now shoots under 1 inch groups at 50mtrs.

Re: IOF .22 LR rifle
i recently got a used .22 gun and got the stock maodified by my own carpentar and gun blued by local gun smith but wen i test fired it to my horror the fired rounds are not ejected. What could be the reason , may be the acid treatment and chenical dipping may have tightened the seat of the rifle cartride. , or a loose spring ,
my freinds please guide what to do...
