Aloha Sid,
This is what you want NAGRI to become: http://home.nra.org/#/nraorg
The NRA is called the 800 pound Gorilla of American politics.
It was responsible for George W Bush becoming President of the US.
With the NRA helping NAGRI and Indian gun owners doing their part, it shouldn't be too long
before NAGRI is the 1,000 pound Gorilla of Indian politics.

Aloha Sid,
My point is that NAGRI, with help from the NRA can be the NRA of India.
Remember, he NRA has over 100 years of Experience.
The reason it is respected and Feared is because of it's membership.
If nothing else, We members are single minded in purpose. We vote for our guns.
If a politician helps us, we help him/her. We all Vote.
I do not know if NAGRI has contacted the NRA for help. If it has, most likely the NRA is
Helping very Quietly, behind the scenes giving NAGRI advice.
That's why I am here in your forum. To help fellow gun owners in what little way I can.
NAGRI knows Indian politics, NRA doesn't. But, that doesn't mean NAGRI can not learn
and adapt US ideas to Indian politics.
You do not have to join the NRA. Join NAGRI and help your country's organization grow
to become a potent political force just like th NRA.

NRA is aware of nagri. They have featured nagri founders on their website. We have a lot of support from abroad but sadly little support from within.

Re: time todo something
NAGRI did write to NRA quite some time back (at least I did on behalf of NAGRI), there was no revert! Maybe the publicly available addresses are not given priority? Anyhow, bottom line is whether anyone supports the freedom loving citizens of India or not, we cannot sit around waiting for others to pitch in - our natural rights are at stake here and this issue affects every single citizen/ resident of India and (like it or not) by extension this also affects citizens of other countries in South Asia.... even other parts of Asia...

Re: time todo something
The main problem in my opinion that NAGRI has right now is that it is not getting any visibility .. i do not think even 10,000 Indian citizens are aware that we exist... we need to do something to get into the headlines
i think there was one interview after the Mumbai affair on NDTV where NAGRI members were invited to talk (Abhijeet, I believe you were the one) and after that nothing.....

Aloha,
mundaire, I think what NAGRI shuld do is to contact Wayne La Pierre Directly.
Like any large organization, most likely the upper level is not aware you exist and as such
they may be "insulated" by their staff because NAGRI is unknown to them.
Having a NAGRI representative personally visit Wayne can't hurt.
But first, make sure that NAGRI is a Solidly grounded viable organization.
Would be nice if NAGRI had a headquarter, operating staff etc.
NRA did have a building in Washington DC. Moved out to Fairfax Virginia. Bought a building
and is operating from just outside Washington DC.
Yes, time and money. Plan wisely NOW for the long term future of Indian gun Rights.
Get organized for the long term.
Plan to OWN a Large enough building.
Make sure the HQ is close to but not necessarily located next to the seat of Indian political power.
A lot of semingly little things. Plan ahead and save money in the long run.
Personally, I can see India a MAJOR power in that part of the world. Only other real power
may be Australia(but that's another discussion).
No reason why NAGRI cannot become the Indian NRA.
I look at the Long term. India as a Democracy with personal gun freedoms like the US will have an influence on
politics of an entire world region.

Re: time todo something
This post starts with a question
This gives a motivation to the law abiding citizen who firmly believes in RKBA.
I have a question if we push this through facebook do NAGRI gets awareness among people??.
Because now a days social networking sites have great influence in the society.Every member of this forum share this documentary in social networking sites.
@ YogiBear special thanks for your support to NAGRI.Normal citizens like me are looking forward with lot of eagerness that there will come a positive attitude from the Indian government regarding RKBA.Each and every law obeying citizen should get the Right to Keep and bear arms.I also pray so....
Hats off to all persons who worked behind the scenes of that documentary. .if we post a video on youtube and get as many people to see it then maybe we can get
attention or something

Re: time todo something
first of all how do we join the NAGRI? Is there any method of the government tracking these gun licence holders and what are the methods of verification they use to prevent them falling into the wrong hands?
How do we get support to get what we want to do?Like through public rallies, support, speeches(which i can do)
Financial assistance? Can't we use tasers and pepper spray as safer alternatives for self defence purposes? Or perhaps Martial Arts training?
WHat rights has the constitution provided for firearms and weapons?
AND WHAT ARE WE EXACTLY FIghting for?are gun laws in india that strict or is it delusional?

Re: time todo something
Take a printout of application form from NAGRI website, fill it up and post it to the address provided.first of all how do we join the NAGRI?
All the questions raised by you are more than sufficiently taken care and regulated under Arms Act 1959, Arms Rules 1962. Arms Licenses are issued after police report. Arms license holder can sell his firearm to another license holder only after the lapse of 45 day notice given to the licensing authority so that licensing authority can verify the license of purchaser. Therefore the question of weapons falling into "wrong hands" does not arise. Moreover "wrong hands" are usually not interested in getting overpriced antiquated legal weapons when they can get far more modern weapons at fraction of the cost in black market. Is there any method of the government tracking these gun licence holders and what are the methods of verification they use to prevent them falling into the wrong hands?
There are so many ways, basically it is to spread the word, educate the people about their rights and get supporters. Why don't you get in touch with NAGRI?How do we get support to get what we want to do?Like through public rallies, support, speeches(which i can do)
How is NRA financed?Financial assistance?
Why doesn't law enforcement machinery of the State use these and instead uses firearms for self defense? Because firearms are the best and most effective tools of self defense. When you have no other choice except choosing between your life and the life of your attacker/s, would you like to use a tool that may allow your attacker/s to save his/their life so that he/they can get yours? There are two kinds of law enforcement machinery, one is law enforcement machinery of State and other is law enforcement machinery of citizens in individual capacity. When citizens act in self defense as allowed by Sections 96 to 106 IPC, they are doing nothing but acting as law enforcement machinery in individual capacity. Can't we use tasers and pepper spray as safer alternatives for self defence purposes? Or perhaps Martial Arts training?
If you read this post and the links within it you will understand. http://indiansforguns.com/viewtopic.php ... 08#p159679 If anything remains unclear please feel free to ask.WHat rights has the constitution provided for firearms and weapons?
Are we not fighting for our natural rights, human rights, fundamental rights?AND WHAT ARE WE EXACTLY FIghting for?
Have you applied for an arms license? Have you read Arms Act 1959, Arms Rules 1962 and notifications?are gun laws in india that strict or is it delusional?

Re: time todo something
dear Sid I see you are both young and new. please try the search function provided by the site designers. every few months someone asks the same questions over and over again. the NAGRI, arms act, ideas to spread awareness have been discussed umpteen number of times.
Same for are airguns legal; which shotgun to buy; airgun to buy/ hand gun to buy; suggest a cheap powerful long range gun; airgun import;
It is time to do something... time to use the search box.
