Folks, I have never tried stropping, although I have seen my dad's old barber do it (when they used normal cutthtroats, before the AIDS scare). Hence, some doubts / queries:
1. Do you stroke backwards (leading with the back of the knife) rather than the forward stroke used in sharpeners?
2. Do you use the same curved motion - handle to point - as used in sharpening?
3. Is there any polishing compound to be used, or do I use the bare leather?
4. Lastly, Choombak, what exactly is a USIA belt?

Backwards stroke, else you will cut the leather. Similar motion, no polishing compounds i use. Typo - I meant leather belts, the tiny device screwed it up.

By choosing a knife sharpener make sure that it is probably the right one in order to maintain the quality of your stuff :)
