Modern Damascus Knives Made in India

Post by Vikram » Sun Feb 12, 2012 6:01 pm

Dear Friends,

Does anyone know about sources in India that may make Damascus knives, especially hunting knives? I am not looking at export stuff with export price tags. Please share any info you may have. Thank you.

Could be done. I'm planning on a kilij blade similar to what you looking for. The sakligar will have to be contacted and consulted. The one pictured by you is mechanical sakela/ damascus. Not a difficult process but time consuming and laborious as compared to acid etched stuff. Silver or copper strips added to the 'reshas' will bring about those wavy patterns.

Happen to own a knife similar to the one you have shown interest in. Not sure if I have posted the picture earlier

Not a good picture, does not show the blade clearly. Made in India. Got it a long time back. Not sure if it is available with the same source again as I have not been in touch with them for a long time.
