Re: New Diana Panther 31 Compact With Photos
@mercury - Thanks a ton for enlightening me with the details. I am currently using Gamo Pro Magnum .177 Penetration lead pellets .51g or 7,87grain. Just day before yesterday I got a Gamo 4x32 WR scope, I also checked the Diana 9x40, 4x32 and Gamo 9x40 all with adjustable zoom. The sales person in the shop advised me to take the one without adjustable zoom/ or just the fixed lense since it is more durable. Moreover it was also the cheapest and costed only about 200 AED. I also saw a small bipod which would be a good addition, but maybe next time I will buy that.
Now adding a few pictures of my gun with the scope
While I was trying to take a photo through the scope... my son walked across

I see the gun is not so performing as good as it should be. Perhaps it is made in China?aravindc82 wrote: For the first time after 5 shooting sessions, I was able to get the bulls eye with my gun, from a distance of 23feet about 7 meters, on 5 1/2" x 5 1/2" target card without a scope. The center was hardly visible and was quite blurry when seen through the sights. Optical fiber on the rear and front sights of this rifle are really very helpful is taking a precision shot.
And the second image is of a plastic tag from a newly purchased garment... from the same distance as above and with just the sights, I was able to hit the target -4 out of 4 shots.

I am not sure where it is made. But since I am very new to this hobby it took some time to get to the target. But rife is having quite good precision.SUFFIX wrote:I see the gun is not so performing as good as it should be. Suffix...i did a bit of research before i got my magnum. diana admits that from 2009 to mid 2010 , they did use chinese barerels, but only on the 34s and 350s....guess they were the most popular selling models. Arvind should not have that problem. any way he can check by sending the serial no. on the gun to diana. from mid 2010 diana also stopped stamping the month and year of ,anufacture on their guns...its a serial no.
guess arvind just needs to get used to a powerful springer....wrong choice for a beginer. keep practisimg arvind and you will get the hang of it.

TY mercury. You guys are so motivating and encouraging. I just befriended a member of this forum "adhaw" who lives in the same place as mine and spoke to him over the phone. Hopefully we will meet up for a shooting session one day . I will keep practicing with this one... Before I go for a new Walther Umarex 1250 Dominator, coz thats the only available PCP in this place. Only thing I am worried about is how to refill it without a scuba tank, I dont wanna buy the tank and hand pump is unavailable here.

Re: New Diana Panther 31 Compact With Photos
it is an 8 land barrel.
intersting though Suffix, i had written to diana regarding the made in germany bit...the reason i guess we all buy dianas; german quality/ workmanship.
their reply was very diplomatic "....we are now manufacturing all metal parts in our factory...". so i guess the fibre optic sights....esp the front sight, piston sleeve, spring guide etc, could still be outsourced. also they never mention china, just "...other sources.."
frankly, i am not too impressed with the quality of the 350 as compared to the 45 i got in 1985. very simply put...that "solidness" is not there.
there has been a lot of chat on 8 grooves vs 12 grooves. fact is both shoot equally accurately... and the 12 groove has about 50 fps more in velocity.
it has more to do with the "...made in china..".
I have a bsa mercury and that has 12 grooves....but then it was made by BSA in UK, even before gamo took over bsa.
i strongly feel, and this is my opinion only, that spring magnums are not for beginers. they are extreemly fussy and can be very frustrating even for experiemced shooters.

The fiber optic sight fell off from the rear sights platform, while I was shooting today.
Any suggestions please You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

Beautiful rifle, Arvind! Well, the duty exemption is only for the registered club members. You will be able to get your rifle in checked-baggage hassle-free- just see to it that you declare it, and inform the airlines.
Also, if you have a scope, don;t get it mounted on the rifle or keep it in your rifle bag. Pack it separately with your other luggage.
Thanks,
Arrun
