Thanks for the pointer Moin, I will try to find and read this book. I trust your recommendation and am sure that it will make for some interesting reading.

Here is where we were having some friendly arguments and discussions about the Glock Knives etc. :D :

Can't resist those sharpies can you! Congrats great buys. The chopper is a perfect candidate for a bit of spit n shine!! Maybe you should have bought 2 and done up one.

Yes Grandama   , I decide not to indulge, but my resolve is weak

Now that you've mentioned, I'll pick another one up and try and work on it. I personally loved the unfinished, village blacksmith quality of this blade, the forging/hammer marks are very visible on the blade. The form of the blade's nice too, very forward heavy, full tang and the hook on the pommel. There were sickels too, but I found this piece quite unique.

P.S: Have something enroute from the US that I've been lusting over for quite some time now. She's super duper hot and drool worthy  Tanto, Axis Lock, 154CM Steel. Like the Kung FU Panda II will bring in the new AWESOMENESS to my collection  Watch this space for more...

Best Regards

The Aruval looks very much like the Woodman's Pal Classic Tool. In fact you could mod your Aruval to look some what like it :D . They also have very nice sheath options.

Got one more, not an Aruval, but a nice heavy bowie type of blade, has a rat tail tang and a nice clip point. This will be the Project Bowie. Have some ideas in my head for the blade. will post pics of the blade here as time permits. :D

This is the kind of antique unfinished look that I'm looking at.

This is a very basic representation of what I intend to do

1) The blade will retain the rough forged finish till where it meets the edge bevel in a rough zig zag line. The edge bevel below the Zig Zag Line (for lack of a better word) will be mirror polished.(Intenetion is to get a variation in finish like the Hammon on a Katana blade, but in a much cruder manner)

2) The Swedge will be sharpened.

3) Handle design and material have yet to figure out. the rat tail tang will jut out beyond the pommel like a glass breaker.

4) Ricasso length reduced, guard to be added.
