The .308 Winchester and 7.62x51mm Nato cartridge are one and the same, and fully interchangeable. There are a very few dimensions that vary by a few thousands in the chamber specs, since the military designs for reliability in functioning under adverse conditions. Yes, some American manufacturers advise against it, as they do also with the .223/5.56x45mm. But the only reason for that is for keeping their behinds covered in case some one decides to sue them after firing faulty milsurp in one of their rifles.

Dear Friend.

All fire arms are deadly if fired at the right part of the body.
Even air guns or rifles are also deadly if fired in close range and at the right part of the body.
