License for Air Guns? (Delhi)

Post by ribaalber » Mon Dec 26, 2011 1:22 pm

I know that you don't need a license for an Air Gun, but I saw something strange on the New Delhi Police website.

Under the FAQ for fees for License, one of the option is Air Rifle.. Like Gun/.22 Rifle/Air Rifle

I am confused.
Can somebody care to explain?

So that Air Rifle in the License fees details are for the Air rifles that pass the Hard Wood Test.
I was suddenly worried in light of the recent developments in Air Gun imports and such

I am sure the IHP 35 would fail that test, but as a buyer, how do I know that an air rifle that I am buying will not pass the hardwood test?

Thanks for the Reply Abhijeet..

All the models of IHP fulfill the conditions as stated in Arms Act for exemption from licence. Need not worry when buying IHP air rifles.

No need to worry unless you are innovative and soaking the piston washer with Diesel or similar stuff :D

Dear Friends.

If your air rifle can make a hole in one inch thick deal wood
when fired from 5 feet then it requires a license. Otherwise no.

I think, all the air guns 35 model and above available at Pandian Armoury will fail in the dealwood test.

You are right.

No company in India is manufacturing air rifles that need a license.
