I did try there yesterday..at laest at jc road. got my self a 100gram can of anabond 662. its mentioned on the sticker that it s a lubricant..... but the website states it as a plumbing product!!!! though, a friend in usa told me he picks up his silicon grease from the plumbing dept, in a store. want to clear all doubts before i use it....

Silicon grease is good for O ring. In pcp it is useful but if you plan to use it on springer then perhaps it is not a good choice.

Re: silicone oil and grease in bangalore....
what about the oil?? to my understanding a light coating of silicon grease on the spring and on the piston ( not on the seal) do make the rifle smoother.
I did use normal light car grease on the piston seal (PTFE), piston and spring ...which made the shots very consistent..... also a liberal dose on the spring would dampen the action with hardly any viberation.
looking for clarification before i do any changes....

Just the opposite. Silicon oil can be used on rubber/plastic parts NOT on the spring or piston where any contacts between metal to metal.mercury wrote:what about the oil?? to my understanding a light coating of silicon grease on the spring and on the piston ( not on the seal) do make the rifle smoother.

Mercury,
Stay away from Anabond. It is a glue and a very strong one at that. I use it in my factory extensively. You can get a good quality grease from Gsmith, Pune. Have a look at Ballistol.in for the oil.

Re: silicone oil and grease in bangalore....
thanks Briha....anabond also makes silicon gresae which can be used for lubrication (anabond 662). the primary purpose thouggh is for plumbing !! but not as a sealant but mantainence of 0 rings on taps. its thin ,very light and smooth. the product write up says it is good fo rmetal and synthetics. in fact some gunners in the us use them on theirHWs.
is it ok to use it on the main spring???
Regards.
ps...what about ballistol vaseline grease...have you tried it.??

Silicon is BAD for load carrying BUT good for high temp application or non reactive grease/sealant. No grease maker around the word use silicon directly or indirectly in there grease where high load/high speed involved. Now it is your call, where you will apply.

Moly is what you need. This grease is just what you need. More details you can fine under gunsmithing area. Many discussion has been made on that.
