JUST WONDERING IF TRIPLE BARREL GUNS ARE TOO HEAVY FOR PRACTICAL USE?PLEASE GIVE ME YOUR VIEWS.

That would probably depend on your definition of "practical use". But given their wide spread use in Europe, and weight comparable to a bolt action hunting rifle, I would say not.

They are they are supposed to if they have an extra rifle/shotgun barrel.Again they are not expected to handle like a SXS game gun. Triple barreled guns/Drllings as they are known, are meant for opportunistic hunting.They allow to hunt birds and animals with the same gun.

What are you going to do with it. Most third barrels tend to be in wierd calibers to begin with. 9.3 or .375 or something like that. Ammunition will always be an issue.

if you are in india its of no use.it is a gun made for hunting.doesn't matter whether its heavy,you have it; you carry it.

dr.jayakumar is right. These guns are actually made for opportunistic hunting as the bird and big game season
coincide in most of the European countries. How ever some of these guns would make gun nuts drool with their workmanship. I myself came across a beautiful Drilling made by Simson equipped with Zeiss scope on claw mounts and twin 12 bore barrels sitting over a 30-06 barrel. Pretty practical bores in India. It was in its original leather boot case and I still dream of it occasionally. I had to let her go as I couldn't decide which of my fire arm to exchange it with. It serves no practical purpose in our scenario except flaunting it around amongst like minded gun enthus. This thing of beauty weighed around 8.5 lbs with scope mounted which I thought was pretty manageable.

Well, seems to me that a drilling, even if the "wierd" ammo for the rifle barrel is difficult to come by, still serves the purpose of a SxS double; against the purchase of which I have seen no objection. And if you can find the rifle ammo, you have a rifle as well. So, if obtained at a reasonable (for India) price, it makes as much sense as a SxS shotgun ,or centerfire rifle. In the Indian scenario, only a .32 caliber pistol for self protection, and an air rifle make "sense". Unless you are into the shooting sports and have achieved the ranking needed to be able to import ammo. You're not likely to become proficient in the use of whatever gun you have, given your niggardly ammo quotas. Even if you have a whole lot of sisters being married off.

But to come back to the original question of the thread, no. They are heavier than a fine SXS game gun of the same gauge, but no heavier than a waterfowl gun by the same maker. Whether that would too heavy is highly subjective. Most fifteen-year old girls would probably be able to handle it.
