Me personally the Zfk 55 in bolt actions (Wanted one but they are fairly rare and fairly expensive for a milsurp)


and a ton of GP11 ammo

In a semi/full auto.. hands down the kitchen utensil oterwise known as a Vz 58


A Saiga 12 would be my choice of a shotgun..but that is a different story and doesnt classify as a rifle by definition.

Wow, I ALWAYS have trouble with that question!

I always have trouble with "hunting" and "self defense" because the tendency is to pick a gun that can kill polar bears and also fend off a batallion of Russian paratroopers. Realistically, however, you will be hunting small animals for 99.9999% of all the times you use it.

All that leads me to think that if I could only have ONE rifle, it would be something chambered in 22 magnum. The ammo, while not particularly cheap, is compact and is capable of reliably killing anything around where I live that is closer than 130 yards. I would probably opt for a bolt action with a detachable magazine, but a semi automatic with a detachable magazine would be OK as well.

Yes they are, but shoot one round in the woods and the entire forest shuts up for 30 minutes. The thing is, realistically you are not hunting zombies and evil bad guys do not attack across an open field at 2 in the afternoon waving pirate flags. They attack at 2 A.M when you are trying to fix a leaking toilet.

The 7.62 X 39 is a fine round, and combined with the SKS is actually a really nice little deer round and rifle for states like Wisconsin that have a lot of woods so ranges are kept short. I'd say that under 75 yards a neck or lung shot with a 22 WMR or 7.62X39 takes about the same amount of time to kill a deer, so I suspect it will be the same with people. I don't have any experience with the 7.5 swiss so I cannot comment on it.

Well with the Vz you have firepower to take out bad guys ina hurry upto 400 or so meters with experience.

With the Zfk with practice you can empty the six round magazine in under a minute and reload, using the clips. Additionally you can reach out touch a target of anykind upto 800 meters with ease.
A .22 WMR isnt very quiet either. And lets face it all you want is one deer or turkey or whatever. So it really doesnt matter.
Also do keep in mind suppressors are available for both weapons.

DSR is also a good weapon system, but its a shame that Walter stopped making the WA 2000

If it would be a long range then accuracy international in .338 LM

For a rifle i would go for the LWRC M6A2 with EOtech sights.

For shotgun would go with MoA the Saiga.

sidearm would be the SIG P226 or H&K USP

With a suppressor I would assume. I have owned a TRG 42 and shooting it without the muzzle brake made me sell it. But AI does make great rifles.

I have owned a bunch of different rifles through the years. Right now I only have two, a Swedish Mauser in 6.5x55, and an AK47. Both suitable for zombies or deer.

What I would like to own: an FN FAL (or SLR, if you prefer). 20 rounds of 7.62 X 51 should be adequate. Will take deer or zombies with equal ease . Is a 9+ lb rifle practical to lug around? Soldiers from 70 countries lugged them around and besides that my deer rifle weighs close to that and I have carried it for many miles. Called the "Right Arm of the Free World", the FAL was a reliable and very durable Battle rifle.

I grew up seeing Jawans carrying their trusty SLR's. To me that was the first "black rifle". Owning a FAL is a dream that I hope will come true some day.

It all depends on the situation though, if it were a SHTF type of situation, I might consider a reliable .22 as one should be able to scrounge .22 LR ammo a lot easier than 7.62 X 51.

As far as shotguns go, I am a firm believer in the trusty pump action. I have see auto shotguns freeze up solid in the brutal winters that we get here in Minnesota. While deer hunting one time in 20 below (F) zero weather, we were able to get the pumps to cycle by setting their butts on the ground and racking the slide. The autos were a lost cause. You don't want to disassemble and handle metal parts with bare hands at those temperatures. Give me an 870 any day.
