You do realize that these "talk shows" are a form of entertainment here, do you ?

Its my equivalent of getting a cat and a dog in front of a camera. The dog barks and the cat snarls, purrs or meows.....

Entertainment...........for fools.....nothing else......

I just saw the show wherein almost everyone was extolling virtues of fighting back and not depending on the police or others to come and help. Unsurprisingly, nevertheless distressing, neither the worthies on the dais nor the audience touched the subject of 'how'.How would a girl defend herself against grown men or a man numerically outnumbered and out-muscled?

And meanwhile, Messrs.Chidambaram expects us to prove the existence of threat to our lives.

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

The problem is we as citizens are irresponsible. Give us Voting right we sell it... Give us driving licence we drive as if days going to end now.....the list is endless..... then why shall be citizens of this country be trusted with instruments of destruction?

Are those who are voting themselves in power and the govt machinery clean ? Of course not, none of them have the moral right to point at the citizenry's shortcomings.

Each and every problem this country faces is the doing of successive govts that have come to power along with the incompetent govt machinery.

If you talk on these lines....you only make it easier for them to manipulate you.

Because,

There are individual rights and there are individual responsibilities. You are not responsible for my criminal behaviour and hence shall not be penalised for my crime. It's like giving you a ticket for my violation of a traffic rule. The same with guns. You deny them to criminals. Not treat the law-abiding as criminals or potential criminals.

Cynical realism apart, that show does tend to be thought provoking. However, the complete lack of practicality was alarming.Leave out the guns.None touched how one was to protect oneself in case of danger.

A lot of these shows are thought provoking and they all stop at that. They leave the fools watching with a "thought provoking" question or two and shove the whole damn thing under the carpet for good until its time for the next show. I would rather see an action plan and its implementation on the issue on hand.

And is'nt the whole show a futile waste of time ? They DID NOT touch upon how the poor victim (or would be victim) should/must/can protect one self.......

Most people here carry on knowing fully well that they would be next in line to fall victim to a criminal or terrorist act but also draw solace for the possibility that it might not be their neck on the line by the law of averages. Thank the 1.2Bn population figure for it.

But that is not how we are supposed to live.......

When normal citizens are armed, crime rate also goes down....
I think we should start filling a petition and hand over to home ministry to change firearm laws
