tango_charlie: I haven't got your point. What do you want to avoid, .30-06 caliber or iof .30-06 rifle.
If you want to avoid the caliber then can you please explain which calibers you prefer over .30-06 and why ?

can nano be compered with a rolls Royce?

it helps to know what one wants rather then shooting in the dark and hoping someone may get hit with what you are thinking.

Most IFGns never took a course in mind reading. lol we do try to read minds but fail all the time. lol

Sukhraj,

The IOF 30-06 is surprisingly accurate.Surprising because from looking at the rifle you would not believe that it can shoot straight. There is at least one fellow who obtained the 'Renowned Shot Certificate' and thus became eligible to import a rifle, using this rifle in the last National Games.

If a good rifle is one that is accurate then, by that definition, the IFO 30-06 is a good rifle. It has issues but nothing that can not be sorted out.Even some of the rifles sold in the international market have issues right out of the box.Since there is a ban on import by all but a minority,I have no personal exposure to what is current abroad. It is limited to what people post on the net.You can do the same ie. google  .Do consider the IOF 30-06 before you spend a fortune on a 25 to 90 year old rifle.

Dear winnie_the_pooh my friend i m not beating around the bush, we buyed IOF 30-06 because it is only easily available 30-06 cal. sporting rifle in India but we had some problems with the rifle so i sold it, when it comes to reliability our IOF 30-06 jammed thrice in range and field, i have personally experienced all these above rifles for quite long time in from my past experience i can say that i can rely upon a M1 Garand the rifle which is regarded as one of main reasons for win of allies in WW II rather than IOF 30.06, and i have nothing against IOF i m also a Indian and my heart feels so good to see them making these rifles.

and one more thing is ur friend after becoming eligible to import is going to keep IOF 30.06 rifle???? or isnt he importing another rifle for his game????......that will be right answer.... :!:

Sukhraj,

It would be nice if you could post about the problems that you faced.I am sure you have lots of experience with rifle but to me the names mean nothing. It is the rifle that matters.I have seen a lot of imported rifles that were nothing but highly priced pieces of junk.

As far as what you refer to as 'Springfield' is concerned, some had brittle receivers that would crack if struck hard. The Eddystone/Remington/Winchester M1917 is overly heavy for a 30-06 though it does help to soak up the recoil. The M1 Garand converted to a bolt action rifle is clumsy to use and operate.

IOF 30-06 rifle does have issues, especially with feeding. However that has more to do with the magazine than anything else. However it has a trigger that is light years ahead of any rifle that you have mentioned.

:agree: IOF is advanced one because it has got new tech but leave this all, IOF can make better rifle than any english, US or any other imported but they lack the spirit and due to bad policies of government.
isnt it??

that is going in my list of oxymorons :D

coming back to the point IOF's 30-06 rifle is one of the best offerings that IOF has made in compassion to junk they have been peddling in the civilian market for a few decades now
I believe in second chances… it’s called reloading
