makeovers are ok. but i cannot refrain myself from the justification of using a scope on an airgun.peephole sight are the standards why the costly scopes maybe we indians are just hungry for the gadgetery .one should always devlope skills with standard or simple peepholes scopes will never get u an entry level. am i wrong please comment i can take offences in my stride.thanx members

Hi Hornet,
> Tuning or makeovers is necessary if one is a serious shooter - simply because as the experts (UK / US / Germany / Italy .......) say factory made guns are assembly line products meant to serve the "Aam Janata".
> Upgradation is necessary - its a sort of customization to suit personal preferences. Makes the gun smoother to fire and improves its accuracy.
> Finally sighting appendages are according to preference - front posts / rear adjustable / peep hole and what have you.
> The invention of rifle scopes have a purpose - just like adding a power steering to your car (why not have the old steering system & be happy with it?) or for that matter why use a cell phone - stick to old cumbersome landline intruments!!!!
> Scope are not mere embellishments they have a purpose - better view of the target, better placement of shots / better accurate shooting experience & much more.
> If you are averse to using a scope - please stick to open iron / fibre sights / peep or what have you....
Cheers

Firstly, mounting scopes on airgun is not a "hungry" Indian habit, but worldwide practise. Why would German and British manufacturers create rails for scopes?

Secondly, perform an experiment with two air guns which are NOT 10m match rifles:

Mount a scope on one, and the open sights on another.

Shoot both rested at a 35m target (the usual scope zero setting for an air gun). Compare the groups, also compare the ease of aiming. You should have your answer.
