Re: price of H&H 16 gauge
Very difficult to suggest ,Ashok.Especially if your seller has surfed internet and looked at the prices in US and Europe. The best thing you should do is to get as many clear close-up pictures of the gun- clearly showing the stock, sidelocks, markings on the rib, then all the markings and proof marks on the barrel flats, if possible pictures of inside the barrels to ensure there is no pitting and rusting- and post them here. The suggestions you get can really save you from a lot of grief.
Remember There are a lot of fakes that go around on sale for unsuspecting buyers and it is not always easy to identify one.A couple of them were spotted on this very forum and we could warn off potential buyers.Do yourself a big favour and get as many pictures as possible and post here.Serial number too. That helps in identifying in the age of the gun.
Be extremely cautious. Also there is a thread on this forum about what to look for when you are buying a used gun.Go through it.

price of H&H 16 gauge
Mr.ASHOK I agree with what Mr.VIKRAM says, too many fakes of purdey,H&H are revolving in the markets. From my experience I woul say, before you buy that gun get the serial number, visit H&H website there is a separate category for checking the serial number by paying some 30£ for getting the history of the gun from H&H company. If you really wish to buy the gun that attracts you.
I bought a 12G H&H from a friend for 3.5Lm. I checked my gun as like this before I bought.
The company will issue the history and certificate for your gun if it's not fake.

The value of the gun also depends upon what it is - if it`s a genuine H&H sidelock ejector in good condition then it`s a valuable gun. If it`s a Birmingham made trade boxlock - all H&H boxlocks were made in Birmingham - then not a lot of money.

Re: price of H&H 16 gauge
The only dip plate H&H sidelock is the No.3/`C`/Dominion and the rounded bar doesn`t look right for one of those ....... although it could be an early example ( and a VERY plain one. )
I can`t see well enough to tell and the pictures won`t expand
If it is a No.3/`C`/Dominion ( the name changed over time ) it was made by W.C.Scott or Webley & Scott ( in Birmingham ) for H&H and is worth a fraction of the price of a Royal.

Ashok,
You would really benefit if you can take some clear pictures that show what was suggested in my previous post. As Grumpy said difficult to make out from the photos you posted. Listen carefully to what he wrote about the gun. Please do not rush.

Re: price of H&H 16 gauge
I`ve been racking my memory and seem to remember seeing an early No.3 double rifle that had a rounded bar.
If this is an early H&H No.3- or `C` grade - then it must date to the 1890s .....or, possibly, the very early 1900s.
I`ve no idea what the value of the gun is in India but if in decent condition with good bores/good wall thicknesses then it would be worth something like £2500 in the UK. I can`t see one being worth any more with minimal ( or zero ) engraving. I`ve never liked the No.3s/`C` grades/Dominions ..... mostly because they were still being made in the 1930s when they were a design anachronism and, probably, the only back action sidelock still in production at that time - I can`t think of another.
By the way, the No.2 or `B` grade later became known as the Badminton which was a front action sidelock ..... and some were very handsome guns. They were also built in Birmingham but a good one will make considerably more money than a No.2/`C` Grade/Dominion.

grumpy,
Unfortunately in India two things will count:
1. 16 Gauge
2. H&H
Period.

I have a lot of time for 16-Bores ..... but only if they`re built on a small ( 20-Bore ) action.
Vikram has a dinky little dipped-plate sidelock non-ejector 16-Bore that lives in my gun cupboard - weighs very little and points beautifully.

Re: price of H&H 16 gauge
The picture looks like an old old H&H.....not really worth the 80K that u being asked for. A 16 gauge Czech might be much cheaper and much better since they are relatively new. (early 1950's instead of the 1890's )Do not go just by the H& H name...
IOF is no more producing 16 gauge ammunition. The last lot they produced was a good 12 years back.It is no more listed in their price list too nor does the factory take any orders for it. Shaktiman is the only alternative left and that too is difficult to find. Not many dealers stock it since there are not many 16 gauge guns floating around.

Re: price of H&H 16 gauge
Grumpy is right. This one is made around 1890s, duckbill round action sidelock. 16 guage ammo is pretty difficult to come by and besides I am sure if not tinkered with, then it has to be chambered for 2.5" shells. Shaktiman makes
2 3/4" shells anyways. I would not pay 80K for it if I were you. Just an opinion.
