if he (they) saw what was being peddled in india with the tag fitted by our local gun shops. i had gone out to pick up a soft case for my tx so that i could ferry it without people going mad. i went to a gun shop in bangalore and was shown an alleged uncle mikes case with decent (ish) foam padding. the cost quoted was 1500 inr but the fit and finish were rather shoddy if u consider an imported slip. the label clearly mention uncle mike size 1 and on the rear side of the label say patent pending. the proof of the matter was shown by the zipper pull tab which proudly proclaimed "SURYA". i am really sure that if those guys saw this case they would have a fit !
even worse was the old geezer who tried to peddle the damn thing as a genuine article.

i got it for 800 bucks at which cost it is comparable to the gun bags provided by g smith although without the waiting period of 10-15 days. will upload pics of this master piece as soon as i can get a photo which shows the label and the zipper pull tab.

Uncle Mike stuff is now made in China.A step down from what they used to make and sell earlier.It is cheaply made and it shows.

Fine WTP.... they may maybe made in china.....but dont tell me that china is importing "Surya" brand zippers from India....

Just pointing out that the Indian made fakes are probably not that big a step down from the genuine stuff.The Indian made fakes may be even better.

I had a set of Uncle Mike's quick detachable sling swivels back in the 80s. It was after having them that I went to using non-detachable swivels on all of my rifles. The pins on those things were staked so cheaply that they would wiggle easily. I tried restaking them with a centerpunch and, after viewing the results, came to the conclusion that trusting my rifles to those things while clambering over rocks and through the woods was not a good idea.

I haven't looked at those things for many years, but judging by my experience from many years back, Chinese or Indian knockoffs might well be an improvement in quality over what I had.
