" Spl Gewehrlauftahl" need info

hi,
i was going through old papers of my grandfather and found his arms license.
in the license was mentioned of a .500 magnum rifle which was exchanged with his friend then a Inspector-General of Police with a " Spl Gewehrlauftahl" a 12 bore dbbl no 10906
this " Spl Gewehrlauftahl" was sold to a foreigner for 5,000 rs in 1970.

can any one shed information of this gun Spl Gewehrlauftahl, i went on the web but would like to have information from india.

''Spl Gewehrlauftahl''= Special German Steel. It is not a brand nor is a company's name.Obviously a gun of German/Austrian origin. Any other info about the gun?

What happened to the .500?Was it a .500NE double rifle or the .500 Jeffery bolt rifle?Any idea what happened to the rifle? Thanks.

in the booklet its just mentioned the names of the rifle that i have mentioned with the serial number

As I said, it is nothing but the type of steel used.Not the gun maker's name. There are/were a large number of makers from Germany who made guns and used common/similar materials. The gun could be from any of them.

Vikram, close, but no cigar! "Special Gun Barrel Steel". Nothing else. A barrel steel produced by the Krupp companie. Provides absolutely no information about the gun or its maker.
