Post by waulakh » Thu Jul 28, 2011 8:13 pm

hi everybody, when did IOF make 12bore shotguns in 28 inch barrels with serial nos. starting with the letters SV.
i have one with the no. SV 8600054 and have seen a couple of others also here with dealers.otherwise
they are the same as the normal IOF 12 bore in 30 inch barrels.

The IOF appears to be mythical capable of shooting decent patterns from 2 miles away.

@ pooh please let me know the year they were manufactured in if possible.
@ moa i think u didn't follow the question. i am not disputing the shooting capabilities of the IOF,
just want to know when the 28" barrels were introduced and how many were made.

MoA,

Those are special tripod mounted anti aircraft shotguns. But those are the 30" variety while we are discussing the 28" one meant for shooting down low flying helicopters.

Aulakh,

Have no idea when they were made. Why is that important? If you are worried that you might be sold one that was originally 30" but chopped to 28" then that is very easy to make out. The ribs would have a gap very poorly filed in and the barrels would be ever so slightly crimped/rolled in at the muzzle to provide a semblance of a pattern.

pooh,
i know IOF came out with 28" inch barrels, but just for knowledge sake i wanted the year these were manufactured.i use it for ball and slugs or for LG and SG with excellent results on wild boar and blue
bulls.it definitely is effective on low flying choppers also like you say.
