Shooting the colt .45 ACP

Gentlemen,

Last weekend, had been with a friend of mine to the shooting range to shoot a whole lot of pistols, revolvers and rifles...

Takes a lot of time to upload videos...here's one..i'll add the others when time permits

Pls feel free to point out the mistakes made..cos, I was really bad:)

looks cool dude I have not tried my hands on .45 yet but seen the amount of recoil in many videos in compare to that you handled the recoil nicely. but it would be better if you could show us where you actually placed you shot.

The .45 is in my opinion the best handgun calibre I've ever shot, (i've shot only a few)...but I shot the .44 Mag and that does really have a recoil..Got a viedo of that as well...will upload it sometime..

Hi Ranjeet,
Just one question...when u fired the colt .45 not using the 2 handed grip,I failed to notice the slide going into battery....any particular reason?

I could shoot, about 10 inch group at 50 mts. I shot about 50 shots, I got the bull´s eye once or twice...

Anyway, I would be back in Bangalore and would be back to my 4.5 mm from the .45

Use a two handed Weaver or similar hold when you shoot a 45. Yes, I agree with you that they are very nice to shoot and hardly recoil if you hold them properly. Grumpy used to build competition pistols when they were legal in the UK and Mark regularly shoots a 1911. They would weigh in with more advice as would Praveen who has several fine 1911s in different calibres in his collection.

The semi auto version of the subgun does look like a Soviet design though I cannot see it clearly as the video is somewhat dark.

It looks like a Brit Lanchester or could be a PPSH 41 not sure as full portion of the gun is not visible due to darkness

Thats a PPSh41 with a less common 35 round magazine. These curved magazines were (for reasons not too clear) manufactured alongside the more common 71 round drum.

Hi Cottage cheese, that's absolutely right, its a Russian PPSH-41,cal7.62x25 Tokarev. There was the 71 round drum magazine, somehow it always got stuck..

After shooting the .44 Mag, I found that the .45 colt is a great gun and can be shot with one hand, but the .44 mag is a killer at least for me

I regularly shoot my 1911A1 chambered in .45 ACP and it is a hoot to shoot. The recoil is punchy but not shrieky, I don't know how to describe it correct.

Compared to 9mms and .357 it is great. I haven't shot .22s or .32s so don't know what those are like. BTW, I have shot the magnums and 9mms a long long time ago when I was in the US. The .45 I fire these days in India.
