Italian Hunting Knife

Post by Subal das » Sat Jun 11, 2011 11:13 am

just by chance come across of this beautiful knife

Image
Maniago, a small town of the Fruili region of northern Italy, has a proud tradition of fine knifemaking stretching back to the Middle Ages. And you practically feel this history with this hunting knife in hand. Made of 440 stainless steel, the 7-1/2" blade is nearly 3/16" thick at the spine and shank, with a remarkably graceful grind. The black covered handle has a very comfortable yet secure grip. 12-1/2" length; 13 oz. Leather belt pouch. A beautiful tool, and a real bargain.

Cold Steel's new generation Mini Tac Tanto Neck

Post by Subal das » Wed Jun 22, 2011 7:42 pm

Image

Cold Steel's new generation of Mini Tac Tanto Neck Knives are astonishingly light at 3 ounces each. Because they're so lightweight, they can be comfortably worn practically 24 hours a day. With their sturdy bead chain lanyards and their rugged Secure Ex̠ sheaths (specially designed to snugly retain the knife while allowing a speedy draw stroke), they can be worn outside clothing and perform as a handy utility or rescue knife. They can also be carried more discreetly under a shirt or blouse, or inside a coat. They can even be used for camping or hiking as they can easily be tied or taped anywhere from a backpack to a fanny pack. Their versatility is virtually endless. Fashioned from AUS 8A stainless steel and reflecting state of the art heat treatment they are honed to a razor edge and exhibit incredible toughness for such a small knife, due in part to their full tang construction. Tough, rough, and ready for anything, they come equipped with thin high quality black G-10 handle scales. This feature allows them to lie flat and close against the body and provide an aggressive gripping surface. Also when these scales are combined with integral sub hilt they give the fingers of the hand incredible purchase and allow a remarkably secure grip that resists rolling or twisting.

TANTO:
For a knife this size, our Mini Tac̫ Tanto offers a remarkably wide, stiff blade and a very sturdy reinforced point, making it ideal for piercing even tough, hard objects. As an added bonus, its wide blade allows for a very generously sized hollow ground blade bevel and an extra keen edge so it can cut almost as well as it pierces.

Steel: Japanese AUS 8A Stainless
Open Length 6.75"
Blade Length 3.75"
Handle Material 3.75" G-10
Product Includes Secure-Ex Neck Sheath
Brand Cold Steel Knives
Made In Taiwan

LHR
Serrated Edge

In the urban warfare environment, soldiers recognized the need for a close quarter combat knife. After studying and interviewing hundreds of real life hand-to-hand combat encounters, MACP Close Quarter Combat expert Matt Larsen worked with award-winning knife makers Chris Reeve and William W. Harsey Jr. to create the L.H.R. The quick-release sheath has a built-in safety release that can only release the knife by the wearer. The textured TacHide™ handle provides sure grip in wet conditions. Proudly made in U.S.A.

Technically I don't know why someone wanting a combat knife should or should not go for one made of Stainless Steel 420. But I did find the sheath locking mechanism a novelty.
