Fabia vs Toyota Liva.
Gents, please help me decide between the Skoda Fabia 1.2 Petrol and The Toyata Etios Liva. Both are priced at about INR 6 Lacs. The Fabia really makes my heart go "dhuk dhuk". but my collegaues and friends saying the spare parts and maintenance's expensive. As I now understand the parts were imported earlier and now being manufacured in Pune so the prices have come down. Toyoto Ofcourse is the largest car manufacturer in the world with it's legendary reliabilty.
My heart says Fabia, while the brain Liva.Your opinions please.
Thanks
Moin.

Re: Fabia vs Toyota Liva.
Toyota Liva seems to be a cut down version of Etios, which again is Toyota's not-very-successful attempt to take on Tata Manza (I own a Manza, hence my views are necessarily biased ). However, having test-driven the Etios, I can say that it definitely does not have the "big car" feel.
Fabia does have "some" maintenance issues, as per some owners I know, but not much, AND it is a luxury hatchback! Other option can be Jazz, but depends on the budget, as it is costlier.
While on Toyota, a few owners I know (of the big ones - Corollas, Altis's, etc.) have complained of service issues. Why don't you take a peek at team-bhp.com? That is supposed to be the IFG of the motoring world!
Anyway, happy zooming (the Fabia does zoom, haven't seen a Liva yet)!

fabia it is ! i own one and recently drove from delhi to bangalore via jodhpur. no issues and the interior is very plush. the etios definitely feels low market as compared to the fabia.

Thank you Esdee, appreciate your feedback on the Etios, does'nt have the high end feel of teh Altis but is surprsinigly selling well. That's comforting to know..How long have you owned the fabia, did you find the spare parts and maintence really steep as compared to say a Hyundai or a VW (Maruti's an exception).... I totally agree the Liva feels dowmarket compared to the fabia... Re: Fabia vs Toyota Liva.
I thought the IFG forum deals with Arms related matters, but somewhat surprised to see Autos getting in.I would just like to add that Skoda has been in the business of arms manufacturing and in auto making for over a hundred years. From my personal experience I am of the view that the durability of the Skoda will be far more than any Toyota. However, the frills of cars from Japan in the same price range is always higher than that of its European counterpart.Skoda today forms part of VW, so one can expect high degree of perfection in its products as is the case with all German products including the Mauser and Walter PPK.

Honda city prices have been slashed recently and the lower end city has become cheaper than jazz. I expect a cut in jazz prices too.

Re: Fabia vs Toyota Liva.
Team BHP has an excellent review on the Livo by its Admin GTO.
Please do check before you buy. REALLY DO CHECK THIS LINK BEFORE YOU BUY.
http://www.team-bhp.com/forum/official- ... eview.html
Assuming that you are going only for the top of the line.
Fabia- Advantages
1. Good build quality. Feel secure factor.
2. Better looking car.
3. Possible to get good deals.
Disadvantages:
1. After sale service of Skoda is so so.
2. Parts are still expensive
3. It has been around for a while now. Arent you bored?
Liva
Advantages
1. Toyota reliablity. Their cars just go on and on and on.
2. A.S.S is excellent. Feedback is taken care of promptly. Mails come directly from the company and they do respond. Just visit both the service centres to notice the difference.
3. Parts are not very expensive.
Disadvantages
1. I dont like the looks.
2. Unconventional interiors with the instrument cluster in the middle of the dash. Try driving at high speed looking at an angle.
3. New car so not yet fully tested.
I own an Innova and an Octavia. I speak from experience regarding the A.S.S.
You dont wont to wait for the new swift?
I would add a little bit more and buy the diesel swift (only if Ineed to do more than 3000km per month).

Re: Fabia vs Toyota Liva.
Moin,
Fabia is the better car in terms of build quality. Feels upmarket when compared to the Liva. Just visit the Skoda India website and check their fb and twitter pages. You will be shocked with the amount of complaints regarding their service levels and availability of spares. Why not have a dekko at the Hyundai I20? A sensible alternative. Looks good, drives well, good interiors and good service too.

Subal, adding another 1.5 Lac for the onroad price, takes it to 8.5. Too high for my budget.Subal das wrote:add some and go for Verna Fluidic starts at 7lakh show room. 20000 bookings since launch.

Well, this is the general ramblings forum so allowed . Thank you Indiaone, totally agree the build quality of the vehicle is far superior to the Japanese ones. Wow, I did'nt know they were into manufacturing arms as well. Thank you for your feedback.indiaone wrote:I thought the IFG forum deals with Arms related matters, but somewhat surprised to see Autos getting in.I would just like to add that Skoda has been in the business of arms manufacturing and in auto making for over a hundred years. Thanks Iceman, that's a very unbiased review. The advantages that you mention for the Fabia outweighs everything else. The Swift's too bland for me, and I won't be driving around much , less than 30 to 40 kms a day, so deisel doe'nt make sense. Thanks again.icemanV wrote:Team BHP has an excellent review on the Livo by its Admin GTO.

I did have a look, with the same features as the Fabia the i20's actually more expensive. It's a great car though. A friend recently brought a fully loaded one. Thank you.Prabhath wrote:Moin,

Re: Fabia vs Toyota Liva.
You have to write an essay about cars to become a member.
I did that - you can find my essay (review) on Tata Manza somewhere there. Relived school days, "discuss the benefits of science with reference to Newtonian mechanics, in 5000 words"
Moin - don't go by internet complaints, I found sooooo many complaints on Canon cameras, for example, on mouthshut.com kinds of websites, people even complained that Canon service does not have free pickup!!!!! For Skoda, you can check wiki on the guns (some really big ones used in WW1 & 2) they made.
IMHO, the guy called GTO on team-bhp, also referred by Iceman above, is a very unbiased reviewer. He actually takes the performance of the car into account, and not "legends" like Toyota reliability. He was a big factor in my choosing the Manza over Dzire (thank God!).
I also got news from the Octavia owner I know, after 6 years of owning the car, he's going for a Laura.
Cheers!

That's so comforting to know Esdee, infact I spoke to a olt of friends, colleagues who own, Octavia, Lauras, Fabias . They only had good things to say about Skoda.

Thank you so much Esdee and every one for all the comments, I'm paying the booking amount tomorrow. Got a sweet deal on the Mid level Ambiente with lovely beige colour interiors with chrome accents, got a discount of about 30K on the price...
Will post pics as my hot babe arrives
Cheers .
