Carry gun to India from USA

Carry gun to India from USA

Hi All,

I live in in US and have green card. I visit India once a while to meet parents & relatives and I want to buy a gun/pistol here in US and looking option if I can carry with my visit to India. Can anyone suggest if it is possible or not and links to get more information? I visited indian consulate's website http://www.cgisf.org but don't see any info about carrying fire arm.

I found few links where people are suggesting that you can carry some type of weapon but no one talks about how to deal with local administration in India like do we need to inform local police station there or register with any office etc...
I want to buy only after confirming what type of weapon I can carry so I would really appreciate if someone can help here.

I think , indian gov don't give you any permission to carry a firmarm.
