Re: thought for the day
“I have nothing to offer but blood, toil, tears and sweat…You ask, what is our policy? I say it is to wage war by land, sea, and air. War with all our might and with all the strength God has given us, and to wage war against a monstrous tyranny never surpassed in the dark and lamentable catalogue of human crime. That is our policy. You ask, what is our aim? I can answer in one word. It is victory. Victory at all costs - Victory in spite of all terrors - Victory, however long and hard the road may be, for without victory there is no survival."

Re: thought for the day
A short story attributed to Khalil Gibran -
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Two friends walking were discussing "freedom". Both noticed a flowerpot with rose plant in it. One said to the other - "Ask the soil within if it understands the meaning of freedom."
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And that's it. It really is a rather short story... At first, I thought it was silly. Sometime later, I thought it was funny. And then one day, I realized what could be the meaning. The soil inside the flowerpot had it's purpose, importance and destiny to act as a nourishment provider for the rose plant and in turn it could imbibe the rose's aroma. But all this could happen only when it was *confined* inside the pot. If the pot broke and the soil spilled, the rose plant might be transplanted elsewhere but the soil could not be scooped up in its entirety and lose some of its existence. In worse case all of its existence as it would be walked upon and kicked around and dispersed into nothingness. All this after it had achieved "freedom" from the confinement of the pot! A good paradox about the concept of freedom.
Alas ! A similar pot broke - some scooped off portions of soil and transplanted them elsewhere as Burma, Ceylone, Pakistan, Maldives, etc. Major portion of the soil was then transplanted as India supposedly for another rose plant. But that was not to be - the gardener appointed to take care broke that pot again and created smaller portions of soil, each supposedly for a different type of rose - based on language. But that was not to be - the rose saplings that thus grew spew out only thorns and not flowers. And yet a rose - red - from the bleeding soil adorned the jacket of the gardener.
That does not mean that the original pot had to be made of steel made in Newcastle or that it was to be made of canvas manufactured at Manchester. It was pretty much a pot made out of the very earth by its very children - the tragedy was that the children never realized what they had or whose legacy they carried.

by the way nice and shocking read!! Dope, Inc
Illegal drugs are the biggest business in the Far East and by a close margin the biggest business in the world, but in Hong Kong, drugs do not merely dominate the economy: they are the economy.

In India black money do not merely dominate the economy: they are the economy.
