11mm dovetail on a center fire rifle  I doubt it will stay on if you really give it a work out one day.

Aren't scope banned in india?? I recently imported 2 air rifles with me and i was told by the customs(At the airport) and police (During weapon inspection) that i was lucky the guns didn't have scopes on them or else they would have arrested me. They confiscated the scopes and charged the person who was caught trying to import scopes through mumbai. Has anyone else heard of similar stories? I am in Mumbai and this my personal experience at Mumbai airport customs in Dec'2010... Please suggest as i am afraid of using the guns with scopes even in shooting ranges. Thanks in advance...

scopes are not banned in india.the customs officer and the police concerned are trying to make quick money,as you are ignorant about the law.most of us here own rifle scopes so don't worry.

Coolaman,

Congrats on you new toy, I would suggest getting a one-piece Weaver rail made that is profiled to the contour of the receiver, the 11mm rail cut into the receiver on the new guns now leaves a very small radius to fix scope bases, alternatively, if you intend to keep the mounts on the rifle as is, it would help if you placed a small arrestor stud (like they have on powerful spring-piston airguns) that's latched onto the rail firmly with an M3 Allen screw running through the top of the arrestor block as double security, this should be Loctite'ed (use Blue Loctite) down into the threaded hole (No. 2 from the back of the receiver) to make full contact with your rear scope ring, since the recoil will make your optics creep toward the muzzle and make your groups take a big walk.

You mean its a savage copy of a Sauer?

That's a nice looking rifle!

Is there a chance you could post some pictures of it field-stripped so we can see all its naughty bits?

You'd be surprised, My 9.3 in CZ 550 came with machined 11mm cuts, and factory rings, which i fitted on and banged out 40 rounds in one afternoon-with the first available scope! oh,the joy and ecstacy

Prices have dropped to 1.05L, so I hear. They are available from dealers, not from IOF directly.

Congrats @coolman,

Nice rifle, I am planning for an IOF rifle, only positive thing being I can buy a new piece.

Gentlemen - I am in a fix....should I go for IOF 0.315 or 30 06.....apart from effective range what other difference does both have...range doesnt matter much to me as I will be taking a rifle for Home Defence (yes... I know bolt actions are not really great for HD, but I love it)..

Which one should I go for.....IOF 30-06 or IOF 0.315, I suppose I have to get it from a dealer, how much the new ones cost from the dealer.

Kindly let me know.

Cheers....safe shooting!!!!!!
