TERRORISM BY LICENSED GUN OWNERS :D not a single proof that licences d civillen were involved.

at that time their were some terrorism going on who used imported weapons like AKs etc, these terrorist did not have a licensed arms. the government had to punish someone since the terrorist were outside the law and could did not queue outside the police or DMs office to apply for arms licence, the Government needed to be seen to do something to prevent these terrorist without arms licence who were using imported arms. Since they the government were unable to cancel the arms licence or and -did not have the power to order them to not to import arms for their unlawful activities, they the government punished those who they could. that is the law abiding citizens of India from importing arms as valid arms licence holders. I do not claim this to be an absolute truth but It is alleged that an Indian Sikh National from Punjab (then declared a terrorist infested state) was caught on suspicion by an employee at the Singapore Embassy when he arrived there to get the endorsement to buy 3 fire arms for himself, as was the part of the formality then. On further investigation the authorities learned that this same gentleman had visited Spore several times in last few years each time with passports/fire arm license, with a different name and had purchased more then one fire arm on every visit.
This hammered the final nail in the coffin of personal baggage fire-arm import policy.
If true, then the question that arises is that how did this gentleman manage to do all this? Surely not all by himself. One can deduct/assume that these meticulously planned operations could have been the result of many brains, from within and outside of local authorities.

 marksman you are commenting like ("I do not claim this to be an absolute truth but" ) misguided missile . How it's possible that One Indian Sikh National from Punjab can get credit of changing policy for 100 crore Indians.
Marksman Please update your knowledge base and If possible try to meet center Gov who are going to make us ARMLESS . Britishers did same thing to control Indian society .

i heard the same as reason.if they nailed the person they should have punished him,not all the licencee's.instead of finding out the officials and politicians involved, they bringout a law.

TERRORISM BY LICENSED GUN OWNERS :D not a single proof that licences d civillen were involved.
Absolutely correct. Why would any terrorist be interested in getting legal arms when he can get arms like AK 47s, RPGs, hand grenades, RDX etc. illegally at much cheaper rates? Most important if some terrorist has somehow acquired an arms license how does it matter if he is buying IOF firearm or some "imported" firearm?
at that time their were some terrorism going on who used imported weapons like AKs etc, these terrorist did not have a licensed arms.
Terrorists never "import" the weapons(import means using legal methods of bringing in goods from foreign countries), rather they smuggle in the weapons through unguarded border areas. It does not matter to them what firearms "import policy" government adopts.
On further investigation the authorities learned that this same gentleman had visited Spore several times in last few years each time with passports/fire arm license, with a different name and had purchased more then one fire arm on every visit.
It appears to me this person was playing the role of courier to bring in "foreign made" arms for some arms dealer or arms license holders. Even then foreign made arms were much cheaper and of better quality than IOF made arms.

Rather government creates an environment where people do these kind of things. Then uses these excuses to create further misery. In my opinion the real motive to put import of firearms in restricted list of import policy is to protect the IOF from any kind of competition.

it is so restricted that is almost like its banned. no chance for an ordinarily arms licences holder to get an import licence, that is someone who is not a top 25 shooter etc.or under TR.

thus we can say it is for all practical reason banned

So many times people have come up with such an enthusiasm of get this import ban annulled. A year ago an advocate called manmeet kept convincing everybody here that he has almost made up his mind to challenge this policy in the apex court and some current members also did so but nobody ever did something concrete. Well I cannot blame anybody cause I myself have also not contributed anything towards this cause. But unless we do something nothings gona change .

invoking dhakaa mukki a better way indians are famous for can anyone tell queen inthe house that she is naked. poor crpf in the jungles get landmined thier weapons snacthed while they are tired after thier respective wreckies.a handgun an ak is no rocket science these days it is common man who is targetted or gets targetted in innocence? everheard a terrorist having a license and getting caught doing serious crimes.well even it happens once in ablue moon;so ?how much sense does it make depriving its own citizens the right of defense.in pakistan as everyone knows;the cost of a chinese.30 is 50k and india7.50Lacs.so the equation is that beggars are not choosers.a simple question can restrictions prevent the serious crimanls? only the honest taxpaying citizens can be deprived off anything.the goons of the politicians dont have to pay for pb weapons as they are alloted free to them.so on and....... :deadhorse:
