I understand that these photos are from the Pilanesberg Game Reserve, South Africa . The guy in the white Volkswagen was trying to get past the elephant.

I'm not surprised. In East Anglia, we share our country lanes and smaller roads with horses. Just as well that the licensing authority's road safety manual ("The highway code") has sections, with clear, sensible instructions on dealing with animals.

yes and never over take without indicating and waiting for other vehicle to pull to one side to allow you to pass. darn those drivers who overtake on the inside and not out side.(we drive on the left side of the road or where there is no potholes)

I am wondering that when both the car and the elephant were going in the same direction in the 1st pic, did the driver do an about turn or the elephant, as seen the subsequent pics. ?
