My favourite Knives

Am sharing pictures of my knives. I hope you like them. Mods, request you to delete the earlier post, since the links were incorrect.

1. The SOG Trident & American Lawman are my preferred carry tactical folders.

2. The J Marttiini Fillet knife is an old favourite. It has a silk edge, strong and is an extremely flexible knife. The sheath is slowly dying on me, inspite of care. If it had a guard, it would have doubled as a tactical blade. However it is now used only for delicate work.

3. The Aitor Jungle King 1 has been featured before on a separate link. This is my fondling knife. As Bruno22 concurs, it is an awesome knife and awesomely impractical.

4. I really like multi-tools. The cheap chinese multi tool (looks like a Gerber) has served me well. The Zilla is great for work and the Leatherman Surge is my companion for camping

5. My old khukri and this is my favourite camping companion. You can see the hard use it has gone through and it still retains a sweet edge and incredible heft.

6. The CRKT Koji Hara Ichi. I just love this delightful assisted opening folder. Shaving sharp and a needle point.

7. The Muela Military Tactical. Great blade for the money. Have taken it camping and it serves me well.

8. Folding knives from the North East. These are very popular all over Shillong and the local survival knife. See the elegant lines and simple design

9. The Recon Tanto. My go to knife in case I ever need to use a tactical blade for defence. Shaving sharp, rock solid and wicked!

10. This is a really old fighting knife that was given to me by one of my army buddies who served in the North East in the early 90's. Seen lots of use and still shaving sharp. The blueing is gone though.

11. The Victorinox Trekker & The Victorinox German Military knife. The one hand opening German Military knife is my current EDC. Love the olive colour and the serrated edge.

12. The Victorinox Nomad is my earlier EDC. So light and has all the functions that one needs with a large blade that locks.

The Kukri seems like a real work horse and has seen some good hard use.. What's the cord wrapped on the handle ? I tried doing it and the damn thing keeps slipping on the horn handle.....

Moin, that is 550 paracord. I cant explain the way I did it, but there are youtube videos that can help. Otherwise, bring your khuk to my place for a sunday afternoon and I will wrap it for you

Slingshot; Did'nt know Para Cord is so readily available. Are you mumbai based ? paracord wrapping or otherwise, would loe to meet a fellow knife lover. If in Mumbai, let's catch up over some cold alcoholic beverages

Moin, 550 paracord is available at one of the Dharavi lanes. I bought a reasonable (meaning unreasonable) length So you are welcome to bring your khuk for a cord wrap. I live in Mumbai. Send me a pm and we can connect over some chilled beverages.

Subal, the Recon Tanto is a brilliant blade. Such poetry in such simplicity. Reminds me of Rudyard Kipling's lines " He trod the ling like a buck in spring, and looked like a lance in rest" . Just the act of drawing it from the sheath is a heady high.

ElJefe, I will someday get a Mora. Especially one with a chisel grind. The Scandinavian blade that I have is not a Mora, though it looks similar. It is a J Marttiini knife. I used to be a chef in a previous avatar and this has been my first and only fillet knife. Given to me by a mentor and a wonderful chef from Italy. It has been with me for at least 18 years and the Chef had it with him for at least 7 years. So all in all an old knife that still slices a fillet as if it were warm butter. I love it.

And Bruno22, knives and alcohol do not mix. I agree. No alcohol needed, especially when knives can be such incredible intoxicants...lol!

My favorite is the Spyderco Endura 4 plain edge. Also love the Recon Tanto and Gerber LMF. Heck I love them all!! What I would love to own is a Spyderco Sage. It's such an elegant blade.

Essdee, I tried to visualise the gully but I cant explain in words. You know what Dharavi is like. Visualising the lane and actually giving directions to it are two separate challenges So, I shall go there once over the next two weeks and then sketch a map for all IFG'ians in Mumbai.

Classic cutlery Bruno. The Endura, Tanto, Gerber LMF. And the Spyderco Sage is very very refined. I have seen Amarendra's pics of his Sage in this forum. Would love to own a Sage as well...sigh....so many knives and so little time
