Check out Takin? Bhutan travelogue from teamBHP India

Post by Sakobav » Tue Apr 26, 2011 7:53 am

I was reading this great travelogue on Team BHP India about road trip thriugh Bhutan, Thimpu, Paro, Kalimpong, Darjeeling etc. Bhutan was what got me interested - it was the first Foreign Country I visited be it Phutsling on border of India and Bhutan - Saw a Citroens and visited a monastery.

Well reading the travelogue saw picture of Takin a Goat Antelope considered to be national animal of Bhutan.

This gent has great pictures but also do check out the Darjeeling zoo pictures one of the best I have seen of a Himalayan sloth bear, Snow leapord, Tibetan wolves and other animals and Birds

very aptly described as journey of Lifetime -- would love to hear from members here incase they have seen any of these places Cheers

These are found in Arunachal in several areas and I have seen quite a few houses with the horns displayed in Daparijo Dist .Did see them live in Darjeeling Zoo.

Been to Bhutan, seen their national animal the "golden takin"(I think it was at the zoo in Thimpu).Bhutan at that time (about 14 years ago) was amazing, totally untouched, no television, everybody wearing their national traditional attire, the the hand painted art work on the bridges, and most of the buildings. I remember seeing more than one archery tournament held by the locals(archery is the national sport)
I had been to the Darjeeling zoo too and seen the wolves, red panda etc.

Yaj.
