Re: Why is the W.J Geoffery tread being locked ?
Vikram,
Thank you for your post. I will try and follow your advice.
The gentleman raised question about my actual shooting experience.
The only time I participated in a competition for first was 9 years back when I was 17 and I was judged best shooter in my district and won state medal and went onto represent my state at national competition. I never participated in any official shooting competition after that.
We have a shooting get together every Saturday for sporting clays, sometimes rifle and handgun shooting and muzzleloaders too at times for fun.

Peter, if I may speak, the discussion wasn't about you .It was evident that it was going personal. You are an expert in your field and so is MoA and I am sure both of you can hold on your own. There is much to learn from you gents who are knowledgeable and have much experience. The jousting is best enjoyed when it's limited to the lists i.e. topic.People are not really the objects.
Once again, all parties, lets leave it here.
Best-
Vikram

Peter: This isnt about the .375 which like other calibers has its place. Maybe I will come North or you can come South.
So bespoke: How much .375 have you actually shot? Do you do your sporting clays with it?
For someone who doesnt know a thing about barrel life, flinch, free recoil, ballistics or if I were to ask you what muzzle loaders with what kind of powder, you wouldnt know it without a google search.
What handguns do you shoot? What rifles? Where do you shoot your clays?
What guns do you own?
and as far as the nationals go: The first one I entered was in 81. Have shot at the national level in more than one country. So what? Did I win.. no. Have you? Have I won competitions.. several in several categories.
Do I know everything there is to know about guns. Absolutely not. And finally do I own big bores? Yes. Several.

Am I losing the point here? I thought it was all about .375!!MoA wrote:Peter: This isnt about the .375 which like other calibers has its place.
I actually shoot .375 H&H atleast once a month.MoA wrote:So bespoke: How much .375 have you actually shot? Do you do your sporting clays with it?

You assume alot of things about shooting if somone doesnt agree with you I doesnt mean he doesnt know anyhting about shooting and I carry my experince and learing in my private pocket no flash it around unless its nessecary.Unfortunately we do not have much choice of powders with muzzeloader except FFg (called Do barah) and FFFg (called Teenh Barah).
Someone who thinks Hunting with .50 BMG is good for africa and .45-70 is a good big game cartridge and .357 H&H is crappy caliber does really know alot about shooting I am sure.

I shoot post popular calibers for .22lr to .45 acp in handguns and same goes for the rifle (We shoot .30-06 (to zero a new scope) and 6.5 Arisaka (few shots for fun) yesterday) and we most host our shooting at our farm and where we meet everyday Saturday....too much nose poking in my business eh?
MoA wrote:What guns do you own?
I have owned quite a few guns from my first one was 20 Bore H&H Paradox ,350 Rigby,.450/400N.E Droplock,.375 N.E H&H,few 12 Bore,16 Bore,.30-06,.300 Savage at present I just have a 12 bore on my license and why? It my personal business as is what guns do I own.
Maybe and good for you but I dont poke nose in other peoples business.MoA wrote:and as far as the nationals go: The first one I entered was in 81. Have shot at the national level in more than one country. So what? Did I win.. no. Have you? Have I won competitions.. several in several categories.

Re: Why is the W.J Geoffery tread being locked ?
I have never said a .50 BMG is good for Africa. What I did say in jest was if I ever wanted to shoot an elephant I would do it with a .50 BMG from the comfort on the verandah. I have no interest in shooting an elephant.
Nor have I said that the .45/70 is a good game cartridge. It will however take anything in North America or Europe without an issue. What I have said is that the .45/70 is a lot of fun to shoot.
There are a lot of weapons I do not post pics off. I take pics when I get a gun out to go shoot. I dont take them out for fun. And sine I dont shoot them that often, I dont photographs them. I do however own no doubles. And dont want to either.
And on that subject... lets see a pic of your 12 bore. I bet its a holland and holland in pristine condition.
And I still mantain, in India a .375 or .458 or what ever big game cartridge you want has no practical use.
