Hi from Algarve, Portugal and Bassilly, Belgium
Hi everybody,
Never thought I would finally find a place for people with one of my two enduring interests (the other being motorcycles).
In my time of growing up (1970s), India was quite different. Permits were easier and I used to shoot a variety of game - on holidays from school and college.
Here, I have a pan-European Permit, so I shoot and hunt in several countries. Yes, even the VZOR is allowed for hunting some parts of Europe, as long as you have a magazine of 4 rounds (customised from the usual 30) - so it is not just the US for serious hunters, although permits in Europe (even national ones) are tough to get - even for small-bore.
Hunting:
- VZOR-58: 7.62 x 39 (semi-auto)
- Blaser R93: .270 Winchester and .416 (Swarovksi scope)
- Marlin 336: .30-30
- Marlin 75: .22LR
Competition Shooting:
- Weihrauch HW60M: .22 LR (Anschutz diopters)
- Remington 90T: .12
- Umarex Hammerli 850 Magnum: 4.5 (.177 air rifle), but a very special piece.
Handgun:
- Glock 17 (9 mm)
My own clubs are Tir Vauban Ath, in Belgium, and Tiro O Pinhal, in the Algarve.
Well, there is a lot I hope to share and learn.
Shall put up some pics at some stage, including a recent one when I got stuck in wild boar country. Unlike a Mahindra Thar (which I covet), my Jeep Grand Cherokee has too much weight, power and electronics. Got the boar finally - called javali here.
Best for now,
Ashutosh Sheshabalaya

You want more gun control? Use both hands!

MoA, what a coincidence. Irchonwelz is just 10 clicks away. Also has the best DIY store in the region - Stock Ath, still known as Stock Americain. I buy ammo from my Club, though (Tir Vauban), which is at Ath. Incidentally, I am involved with a proposed new range in Belgium - which will also offer security training for companies.
Shooter - the 416 is Remington. Have put up a pic of the Blaser in the Photo section - 'from Glock to VZ'.
Best for now,
Tosh
