Hi Dskishan,
> Airgins are made by IHP in Ahmedabad (these are very popular) & Amico & Olympus Arms in Kolkata. There are others also, but these are the well known ones.
> They come in 2 calibres
* 0.22 (5.56mm)
* 0.177 (4.75mm)
> There are no Magnum Category made in India. They conform to 12 footpound statutory limit.
> The 0.22cal is heavier than the 0.177
> The impact power is more in 0.22cal as compared to 0.177 due to heavier pellet used in the former.
> The average velocity of the 0.22cal is between 550 & 600 ft / sec
> The average velocity of the 0.177cal is between 590 & 650 ft / sec
> However these velocities & accuracy can be improved by "TUNING" the guns - using better springs & seals etc.
> Hope these info are useful for you to select the make & calibre.
Cheers :D

Dskishan,

You must seriously thank Brihacharan for this help. His encouragement and support is incredible to all new comers like myself. We all joined new to this site, but we have explored the site for answers. I suggest that you go to the Airgun section of this site and read the threads on airguns in India. I can assure you that all your questions shall be answered. In case there are still unanswered questions I am sure that members like Brihacharan, who are very knowledgeable, and some of us novices, shall be more than willing to help. Cheers Slingshot.

Someone ought to make a directory of all manufacturers of air guns and pellets in India. Both past and current.
Justice alone is the mainstay of government and the source of prosperity to the governed, injustice is the most pernicious of things; it saps the foundations of the government and brings ruin upon the realm - Sher Shah Sur, Sultan-ul-Adil.
