Food for the Swiss Babies

Post by MoA » Sat Mar 19, 2011 2:29 pm

Well the brown truck of happiness delivered this morning, two cartons of Swiss Surplus GP-11 ammunition

Rifle in the background is a STGW 57.
Image
Each carton contains 480 Cartridges in pouches of 60
Image
This in turn contains 6 boxes of 10 cartridges each.

Also got a can of Automattenfett which is a special grease the Swiss use for lubricating the rifles.

tried to take a pic of the rifling on the K31. Mine was manufactured in 1940 and is still is pretty much in prestine condition

Well apologies for the crappy pictures. I am off to the range.

Showoff!!!

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.

The K-31 and the STGW both can stay in 9 ring easily as long as you do your part with the GP-11 round.
The K-31 is touted to be a consistent MoA or better performer, I certainly havent achieved that yet with it. Waiting on on the diopter before seriously aiming at 1 inch @100 meters.

I manage staying in the 9 Ring easily with the K-31, with the STGW its a lot harder not to just spray and pray. But when I do shoot seriously it keeps up with the K-31. Both witht he GP-11 ammo. With the Partizan ammo the performance is miserable by comparision. Havent started hand loading for the K-31 yet, and you cant for the STGW due to the fluted chamber.

Both the swiss rifles are consedred to be the most accurate Milsurps of their respective era's.

come on over paaji. dont say IF we want to meet you.
you know you are always welcome. ive said it off IFG and now im telling you on IFG.
Hope that satisfies you.

moa is this grease suitable for shotguns/all rifles?
whats the cost?

ivebeen reading about gun grease/gun vaseline/there are so many brands someone suggested the lithium grease in the automobile shops is the best and the same composition as expensive gun grease.

what sort of grease is yours.

I used gun vaseling liberally in my scotland trip and had relly good results; no rust, semi worked perfectly.

but the small box has run out now and is quite dear. now looking for alternates.

So this is the rifle youve been telling me about. nice wood.

say hi to all friends at the range and do post pics of your groups.

Shooter: The swiss army uses this on all their weapons. Its blend that is manufactured especially for them, so have no idea what sort it is precisely.

Will say hi to the folks at the range, and will post pics later.
