Mannlicher cartridges are not available in indian market. Just check the cartridges before buying a rifle wether its in fresh import or not.

DR Yadav, there was a paost a while ago from Mack The Knife about availability of 30-06 rifles, dont exactly remember the manufacturer.Do check in Rifles or for sale.I think they were mostly American, the prices too were in US dollars!!:(

I don't mean 30-06. I know 30-06 is 30-06.

Gentlemen,

Steyr Sportwaffen, the company that makes Steyr sporting rifles is owned by Anschutz these days. Anschutz owned 51% after a takeover in 2001 or 2002 and recently the owner of the remaining percantage of shares sold his stake to Anschutz.

The military arms and handguns continue to be made by Steyr and they have licensed their name to Anschutz for the sporting rifles ie the SBS series that are being made these days in Austria and the USA.

Danish,

If you know that a 30-06 is a 30-06 what exactly do you mean by, "Mannlicher cartridges are not available in indian market. Just check the cartridges before buying a rifle wether its in fresh import or not."

A Mannlicher 30-06 rifle would shoot the same ammunition as a Winchester, Mauser, Remington or whatever other 30-06 rifle you could talk about. I can't fault Asif for his comment here.

The Steyr Mannlicher SBS action is good......but has damn all to do with Mannlicher and absolutely nothing to do with the classic Mannlicher Schoenauer ( eg 1903 ) action.
There are classic Mannlicher Schoenauers chambered for the 30-06 ( some M1924 and later models ) but they are thin on the ground. Something else to consider in India is that if an M-S rotary magazine gives problems you have a major headache.
Asif, I don`t really understand why you`ve listed links to Steyr Mannlicher websites because all those rifles ( the Pro Hunters/Classics/SSGs/Scouts/Tacticals etc ) use the SBS system actions and are not related to the Mannlicher Schoenauers.

I dont understand then, MANNLICHER CARTRIDGES? 30-06 is not a proprietary Mannlicher caliber like your rifle is.
Yadav is asking for an opinion on various rifles/actions in 30-06 and if you tell him as above, average semantics would indicate the same to me...
