can you please explain and tell me what advantages alaska has in terms of gun ownership vis a vis places like vermont/montana etc.

Vermont is good but they have no policy to issue CCW to residents which may cause problem while driving out of state, on the other hand Alaska has an option for CCW if a resident wants. Montana is good but their CCW policy is not clear even though they are "shall-issue" state. Also their "Montana Firearms Freedom Act" is confusing and it conflicts directly with federal laws. I'm sure it will give trouble to NFA weapon owners if they have to travel to another state for some reason.

BTW here in India even a semi auto imported pistol costs as much as a FA weapon there. I heard in this board that a imported .357 Desert Eagle was sold for 30 lakh ($66,342) I guess one can buy two M60 at that price. The common price for a pre-ban imported pistol here would be around $10,000 I think.

Indians dont qualify for the lottery so beware of some agent promising otherwise.

Alaska is a nice place but beware. Coming from a temperate/tropical country like India most people cant bear the subzero temperatures and the winters are one long night.

the money initiative exists because many people dont want to live there.

Even a place like scotland can get on many peoples nerves let alone alaska.

This post is not meant to deride alaska in any manner but to tell people about some realities of living in sub arctic climate.

Man I'm ready to be frozen in Alaska just to own some NFA stuff. Let's hope a legal alien can buy NFA stuff in USA. I know there's no mall, disco or stuff like that in Alaska but I don't care as I never went to a mall or disco in my life. Also I can't live in crowded areas like NYC or LA as I'm from a village where you can barely see a human being on the way to office or school. My second place of choice is Fort Knox, AZ but I heard life is very expensive there.

This is kinda humorous. After I finished my 12th standard in India, my family moved to Nigeria. I was there for a year before I went to Minnesota.
I wasn't too concerned as I had been on an expedition in the Himalayas in January and it wasn't that big a deal. I thought if I could handle that, I shouldn't have any issues here.

Let me tell you, boys and girls, I had absolutely no clue what cold was. Not even an inkling.
Since I had acclimatised for almost a year in season-less Lagos, winter in Minnesota was mind numbing. Minus 60 degree with the windchill is an almost un-describable figure. You cannot have it explained to you; you have to experience it to understand. However, I survived (I had my doubts occasionally during that first year) and now I'm used to it.

You have to be a resident alien to have the same gun rights as a US citizen. There are restrictions on non-resident aliens like students, tourists, etc. that limit rights.
