A lion has just been offered for hunt with a trophy fees of 100000 euros. The ranch claim it is the largest lion on earth. I have seen the pic. It is a beast. i mean if you want to know what a 'majestic beast' looks like, that is it.prashantsingh wrote:Thanks for the info Vikram.Vikram wrote: the Black Rhino is still the costliest hunt in the world. My God. That's really expensive. I had no idea that they still offer Black Rhinos for hunting. The last I heard was they only offer them for "green hunting" where they dart the animal and take snaps.
Again not nitpicking but just telling you guys.

These pictures are really awesome....

About Rhinos and Lions.....
Irrespective of the price tag, I'd prefer the Black Rhinos and that Lion left alone for a few more years. I am assuming that both are in Africa. While I might be presuming a bit too much here, I think greed is at play here.
We almost lost all the Black Rhinos not too long ago did'nt we ? And the lion on the ranch......remember the American trophy hunter who shot the largest leopard in Namibia ? Not too many took to that in a kind way. Did they ?

As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

FF,
Black Rhino hunting is almost gone now. If they do allow,it could be one or two maximum once in a few years. That explains the price tag. However, it's the poachers are to be blamed than the trophy hunters. They hunt only when there are permits available. No permit,no hunting. The black markets of the Arab world and Far-East need to be tackled more robustly than they are now to stop the annihilation of many species.

Vikram,
I agree completely with you, without any doubt whatsoever.
Even if its poachers and their misdeeds, the result is depletion in numbers of species.
Mind you when animal rights activists and anti hunting activists, cry themselves hoarse over the depletion, they will target the legal hunter (for lack of a better phrase) NOT the poachers...Do you see where I am coming from ?
Everyone knows its illegal hunting, poaching and deforestaion (and related activities) that are to be blamed for the depleting numbers but its so much more convinient to blame the legal hunter you see.........
Can someone please post a pic of this big lion from the ranch ? He deserves to be the wall paper on my PC for a while. He also deserves to live a little longer for his unique title of "largest lion on the ranch". Lions only have a 10% chance to make it to adulthood in the wild.

Well the actual title is the largest in the world. Can someone please post a pic of this big lion from the ranch ? He deserves to be the wall paper on my PC for a while. "Shame, he lost his electric shaver !!!! "
"I think electric shavers, trouser belts and shoe laces are confiscated and not returned until after release ! "

Re: Most incredible hunting/Landscape pictures you will ever see
Most hunters i know wont shoot him since 99.99% chances are that he has been carefully reared on a ranch till adulthood.
One could shoot so much more for 100000 euros (150000$).

I would only shoot him with my camera. Looking at his mane he seems to be from East African decent. What a magnificent beast. I would let it live as long as it will in the wild so that it passes its best genes to its future generations so that our future generations can witness what great animals we were blessed with.

It looks like a Cap lion or Barbary lion. If I'm right it should be used to breed not for pleasure of some so called "hunters" as those subspecies of lion are extinct now.

Jeff Cooper advocated four basic rules of gun safety:
1) All guns are always loaded. Even if they are not, treat them as if they are.
2) Never let the muzzle cover anything you are not willing to destroy.
3) Keep your finger off the trigger till your sights are on the target.
4) Identify your target, and what is behind it.
