WJ Geoffrey model 96 .375 mag

would like a peice of other members minds ive got a .315 iof which im contemplating selling and buying the .375.
the dealer is asking for 3.5 lakhs.kindly comment on the price. the rifle in my opinion is about 70% condition.major drawback i think is high priced ammo :cheers:

Are you really going to be shooting the .375? Why don't you consider the IOF .30-06?

If it says "Geoffrey" on the barrel ,run away from it.

I think Winnie means that it should say WJ Jeffrey. If it says Geoffrey, it could be a desi rip-off.

As my grand dad use to have 375 H&H , which he sold way back 1994 , so as per my experience instead of 375 WJ go for 30 06 IOF(most versatile caliber) a brand new with easy avalablity of ammo.
stay away from NIB (dealer junk).

as in one earlier post a IFGan wa asking for .32 or 380 ,Better as per today senario for common man is offcourese .32 .

Don't do it. The .375 was a Tiger rifle, now it is an expensive wall hanger (some of these, old worn out rifles, do not hit 1 foot targets at 100 yards and have reliability issues, if not being outright dangerous to shoot). Since you already have a rifle on your licence and can wait if needed, do the following. Check with the NRAI, there are rumors they will order the newer IOF 30-06 for members. If true, spend around 175K total, for NRAI membership, Rifle, a Scope and some tuning of the rifle by a Pro. That way you have a really nice, brand new, MOA capable rifle for less than half. Plus the membership entitles you to benefits and discounts on goodies for the hobby.

With what you save, import a nice .177 Air Rifle, the balance if invested will provide a lifetime of free Ammo for the 06.

thanks a lot guys.i might be mistaken about the spelling as i saw the weapon a couple of years ago.iof .30 should be more practical but its indian ordinance:( .i would prefer to pay 350 bucks for fresh good ammo since big bore hardly gets used anywaybut in a weapon made by a proffessionalgunsmith not a blind iron monger.

30.06 everybody maybe right staying away from these wall hangers is wise.by the way what is wrong with .315? i am having it since 1971 no problems yet and it is damn accurate and light to carry. :deadhorse: :deadhorse:
