Girls being trained by indian army
While trying to view the RKBA video, i came across this video.
Which shows that young girls are being trained by Indian armed forces to use army weapons.
Now isnt this double standard, when the it serves their need, they are arming and training civilians, This is in not the only example, we have seen this in J&K and more recently in almost all the naxal infected areas.
But in general they will not arm the society as such, what a irony.
Isnt this one of the valid point for RKBA

Re: Girls being trained by indian army
Usual story - when the state needs their help, it arms & trains civilians but if civilians need to arm themselves for THEIR OWN protection, the state is unwilling to allow them to do so! Begs the question, is the Indian state really a Republic - by the people of the people and for the people? OR are the people merely there to help support the state with no value on their needs & freedoms?

On the other hands it gives me a feeling that these ppl are being treated as dispensable by state. Its the ease of their availability and no accountability for their death.
By giving these 1 days training, you are igniting a fire to fight but not really training them enough to be effective, nor arm them with good weapon to take on AK-47.
I remember reading a article in HT around 2 months back where a surrender dacoit in MP had again taken up Arm to fight naxalites and he was far more effective in actually venturing into the the naxal areas and taking them on with .12 bore, 315 and few 30-06.
Distt police were using them and supplying ammo, but not ready to give them more 30-06 or any semi automatic weapons.
I tried getting the article online, but nothing turned up . It appeared in jan of 2011, if my memory is correct, it was half a page article in HT Delhi.

I guess you were talking about this article (in Aug 2010):sa_ali wrote:I remember reading a article in HT around 2 months back where a surrender dacoit in MP had again taken up Arm to fight naxalites and he was far more effective in actually venturing into the the naxal areas and taking them on with .12 bore, 315 and few 30-06.
Determined to put an end to Maoist terror 25 villagers led by a former bandit king of the Kaimur plateau in Rohtas district attacked a Maoist headquarters on Monday morning.
http://www.hindustantimes.com/Villagers ... 91349.aspxA confidant of Ram Bachan Yadav told HT that the Sena team initially attacked about 20 Maoists with 14 .315 bore rifles and 11 double-barreled guns.

Re: Girls being trained by indian army
Differing perception of differing ministries ? Raksha Mantralay v/s Home Himinstry ??
A question, more out of academic curiosity -
Let us assume Army trains Miss X of J&K in use of gun; but can it really present her with that license and a licensed gun or will she still have to go to Home Ministry for her license before she can use it against a terrorist - or a Jawan - depending upon her innate loyalty? If later, then I would say this training of young girls is a classic eye-wash or at the best a PR exercise. Alternately, if the Army issues her the license, is it valid in civilian areas too (where the Home Ministry reigns supreme) or only in "Forward Areas" where the jurisdiction stays with the Indian Army and therefore the Ministry of Defense ? If later, the girl shall find difficult taking her Army issued gun there as she is a "civilian", unless she also gets commissioned by the Army; in which case it's a regular recruitment initiative.

...In any case all that little girl training tamasha is pure propaganda dipshit charade. It in all probability achieves next to nothing of pragmatic value....other than leaving impressionable young minds high and dry.

Re: Girls being trained by indian army
It is a great move.
Unfortunately, unless the girls happen to find an AK lying about when the terrorists come; all the training in the world is not going to be useful. Also, somebody tell me, what is the use of training them in RCLRs? Reckon LeT is barging in with tanks now?
I'll say, give them training in 22 rifles and ISSUE it to the trainees to keep it with them. Will be loads more useful than training in AK and INSAS and hope the rifles will fall from heaven when they are going to need it.

Exactly, i think thats what they are expecting to happen. As if terrorist will invite the girl for gun fight and give her the equal chance.

Re: Girls being trained by indian army
Reminds one of the Volkssturm. The Nazi regime first confiscated all private guns, and then, when the Allies were rampaging around in the "1000-year Reich", all the old men, little kids, etc., were given ancient rifles and told to go and stop Ike, Patton, Monty, Zhukov, Rokossovsky, et al, with their tanks, planes, millions of troops.
When a repressive regime is on the defensive, it turns to the very people it has repressed, the masses, not to fight for themselves, but to protect the decadent "leaders" and fuhrers from Nemesis.

Re: Girls being trained by indian army
sa_ali,
If you remember, the Indian Army first trained Prabhakaran's LTTE, even gave them arms. Then what happened? They got clobbered by the very same guys! The same could also be said for the Khalistan movement. It is often suggested that the government first trained those terrorists and then one day the tiger turned 180 degrees to bite the same hand!
The problem is not with the defense forces. It's just bad judgement and policies of the government. That is exactly what happened in the above two cases.

Justice alone is the mainstay of government and the source of prosperity to the governed, injustice is the most pernicious of things; it saps the foundations of the government and brings ruin upon the realm - Sher Shah Sur, Sultan-ul-Adil.
