Girl killed by leopard
Dehra Dun, Mar 5 (PTI) A 9-year-old girl has been killed by a leopard in Almora district of Uttarakhand, forest officials today said.
Divya Singh's half-eaten body was recovered from Gwar village yesterday, they said.
The girl had gone outside the house on the nature's call when the leopard took her away on Thursday night.
The district administration has given Rs 10,000 as compensation to the family members of the girl.

Body of female leopard found: The body of a female leopard was recovered from the Khatima area of Kumoan in Uttarakhand. The paws of the animal were found to be chopped off, while even the teeth of the carnivore were missing. However, the forest authorities have ruled out any major foul play in the whole issue and said the paws could have been chopped off by the locals after they came across the body.

Leopard found dead in farm
Sirsi (Karnataka), Mar 5 (PTI) A leopard was found dead in a farm near Masbhag Kodani in Uttara Kannada district, police said today.
The carcass, with two bullet marks in the neck, was was found yesterday in Honnavara Taluk here, they told PTI.
The fully grown animal, weighing 59 kgs, was 165 cm long and 65 cm in height, they said, adding that the leopard''s teeth and claws were found buried in the farm.
The remains of the carcass have been sent to a laboratory in Bangalore for tests, they said.
A case has been registered against the owner of the farm.

leapords are very sneaky animal with lot of survival instinct.it can hunt anything from a mice to buffallo.people living beside the forests should be taught about the safety from wild animals.sorry for the kid. if the owner had shot he would have buried the carcass,must have been shot elsewhere and died in his farm.poaching should be treated with severe punishment.

Leopard cub found dead in Chamoli
Dehra Dun, Mar 7 (PTI) The carcass of a leopard cub, suspected to have died of food poisoning, was found in the forests of Garsara in Chamoli district of Uttarakhand, an official said today. The one-year-old female leopard cub was found dead by villagers in a field yesterday, said D K Singh, Divisional Forest Officer (DFO) of Kedarnath. A postmortem has found contaminated meat of a monkey in the leopard's stomach, suggesting that it died of food poisoning, he said. Meanwhile, a forest department team yesterday arrested a man called Khankaru for allegedly possessing a leopard skin at Mori area of Uttarkashi district.
