Don't have the Illinois game laws, but would say no. No hunting during nesting season, in any and all states. Not until early autumn.

Yup, no seasons open in May.TwoRivers wrote:Don't have the Illinois game laws, but would say no. No hunting during nesting season, in any and all states. Not until early autumn.
There might be some fishing and in most states it's open season on Coyotes (all year around) but I generally don't hunt what I don't eat. Though I have nothing against the taking of Coyotes.
You might be able to get some Trap or Skeet shooting in, HERE
Hunting questions for Illinois answered HERE
Hunting and Trapping Regulations (IL) HERE
Dates for the specific Hunting Seasons (illinois), HERE. Spring Turkey Season goes till May 12th but you have to pre-apply for a permit. Deadline for applications is March 9th. You have to know what zone you are going to hunt in. Unless you have access to private land, you will have to find out where the public hunting lands are and go there to hunt.

Where in Illinois are you going to be? I am pretty sure we can't hunt here in May. I usually make a trip down south Illinois for Dove hunt. Season opens for which on Sep 1st.

The hunting season in Argentina starts in May.You will have to fly down South.
Some good big game hunting and dove shooting in that part of the continent.

I wonder what the "season" is to hunt at a Preserve. Look up preserves in Illinois, Indiana or south western Michigan, I'm sure you can find one within a three hour drive of Chicago. Its been a while since we had an IFG hunt in the Chicago area.

I agree Sharief... it's been a while. I still smile when I think about the 'Sholay' re-enactment on our pheasant hunt
Let's plan one soon.

Re: hunting in may in the US ?
I 'searched' for the pheasant hunt thread but couldn't find it. Could it have been before IFG moved to a website? Were we using yahoo groups then? Anyway...
So the pheasant hunt was in Bremen, Indiana. It was Mehul, Sharief, Inder and myself. We missed a lot(I think we did worse than how we normally shoot) but at the end of the day it was a fun day. We bagged between 15 birds in all if I remember correct.
Oh and the Sholay part
The very famous 'kitne aadmi the' dialogue... enacted by us all ... including our own versions... carrying our shot guns on the shoulder like gabbar etc. I possible can't put it in words... it's one of those 'you had to be there' episodes
Here's a 'blair witch' quality video:

Re: hunting in may in the US ?
This is the best advice. Preserves may not have birds left by May, as it's too hot for dogs (probably), but it's your best chance. They charge you through the nose for the ammo down there. $12 a box
Ill be happy to take you up on the offer; book a 10000 shot shoot .
