Re: IHP "National" air rifles & pistols
Hi, siddiq patel, ABHRANKASH, amr,
Thank you for appreciation. I feel very happy
Info on Accessories :
The approx cost of Scope Rail and Muzzle Break was INR 2K. Scope Rail & Muzzle Break was ordered thru http://target-tune.in/Inter/
The approx cost of 4x20 scope is INR 1K was ordered on a UK vendor thru ebay.com
The approx cost for dovetail for flashlight was INR400.00 and was ordered on a HongKong vendor thru ebay.com
The approx cost of Flashlight was INR 500.00 was ordered on a Chennai vendor thru ebay.in.
Additionally, I bought Drill Machine, Tap holder etc for making holes for Scope Rails.
My Experience :
Scope mounting was the most difficult task.
First, I did holes and then dismantled the complete rifle for cleaning. After that, assembling the rifle was one of the most difficult task i did... To put the spring, piston etc back in place...You actually need to have proper tools and guidance for this. First I tried to do it myself but could not do it..then i took help from my neighbor, we were again unsuccessful. Then, I took the spring, barrel etc to shocker repair guy..first nobody was interested, then finally i managed to convince a guy...and after 30 mins of struggle, we finally did it..
Secondly, I found that the screws for scope rail, were bit loose and would actually come out after few shots..I then used Araldite to fix it…And it is now the rifle is perfect ...i then ordered above mentioned accessories.
..But after all these efforts..I am very happy with the Rifles performance…..I actually shot a candle from a distance of 10 feet..
Incase any one of you also plan to modify the you Rifle and need guidance, let me know.
Thanks & Regards,
Madhur Acharya

Police kill the criminals not because they don't have humanity. The rights of the other people to live are important to them than the right of the criminals. Same applies here. Call the municipal corporation first. if they don't heed to your requests, i'll not ask you to shoot but i can advice you to do whatever you can do to get rid of them. If necessary shoot! I came across such situation when one of my friends mom was bitten by a stray dog !savage wrote:zinni22 please tell me what would you do if a bunch of stray dogskill your beloved pets?they killed mine ...............please reply soon..................zinni22 wrote:. Re: IHP "National" air rifles & pistols
January Project
Myself and ploughindia, a fellow member from my town decided to 'do up' our IHP National 35 .22s. My rifle is a 2010 model while ploughindia's is a 2009 model. Both were bought direct from the factory after trying out the entire days lot, ie. IHP makes them in lots of 8 and you get to try them at their indoor range before choosing it. This is something I have always appreciated at IHP.
First we bought 2 Tasco 3-9x32 scopes with 11m rings, next we ordered scope rails from mdhasan which he promptly delivered. However, the rails were bare aluminium which I didn't approve of and they were promptly given for powder coating. The casing of the action was then drilled and tapped according to the placement of the screws. However, the screws supplied with the scope rails were a bit too long and the would interfere with the spring travel. They were then ground about 2 mm to accommodate this.
Next, we opened up the rifle action and tried to figure out if we could cut down on the 'twang' and the reverse recoil. All that was required was a polyurethane washer between the spring and the top hat. The thickness for this is 2mm as this compresses the spring completely. Material for this was promptly located, turned on the lathe and fitted. After that the shims on the trigger and the pivot pin were manually honed to make them smoother. The pressure seal was kept intact because we saw no reason to replace it with any other brand or even imported ones. All this was then lubricated with BirchwoodCasey PTFE gun oil and the scope rails attached with Araldite and screwed with thread locker.
After, this we got going on the stock. Now the factory stock was rather crude and measurements are pretty odd since IHP outsources the stocks. They fit them on any action on the assembly line. The services of a local carpenter were requisitioned and the stocks sanded. Meanwhile, I thought of adding a white line spacer in front of the recoil pad for visual appeal and a 2mm semi flexible white acrylic sheet was found and cut according to the shape of the recoil pad. This was ten fitted and sanded so as to get a continuous feel in the fingers when they are run over the stock. No stainer was applied on the stock in order to preserve it's original wood grain, although I must add that the quality of wood used by IHP is terrible.
Next step was pressure spraying the entire stock with melamine and 2 sprays were carried out. This would give a good shine and would make the wood impervious to oil and water, thereby preventing the stock from turning black over time. The stocks were then allowed to stand and cure for 24 hours.
The rifle was then put back together with all three screws fastened with AnaBond thread locker. I then zeroed them over 25 meters at my own range with a Laserlyte bore sighter. Results were encouraging. The rifles were easily zeroed to within 1.25 inches at that range. However, a point to be noted is that unlike centrefire or rimfire rifles it is difficult to zero air rifle because one cannot open up the bolt and peer down the barrel to align the xy axis, but they would have to be fitted on a vise and the zero brought up to the center of the target and the scope then zeroed. Unfortunately, I had neither a vise nor a camera to record this procedure.
Anyway, hope you folks enjoy seeing the fruits of our spare time activities!
