For whatever reason a "precious life" is lost and he will be missed by the one's that loved him. A small prayer for the departed Soul is my way of contributing to this topic.

IIRC many decades ago, the victim had lost his brother to suicide, which is what (at first glance) the present case seems to be. While loosing a family member is always hard on those left behind, it is doubly tragic when someone close to you takes his/ her own life.

R.I.P Shri Surinder K Jhakar and may god grant his family the strength to bear this loss.

Unfortunate! Sad to see an eminent person die, especially where a firearm is involved. As far as I am concerned there are only intentional discharges and negligent discharges of firearms. One or more of the rules of firearms safety would likely have been broken when a negligent discharge takes place.

May his soul rest in peace. :(

Most of VIPs avails aportunity to own a firearm specially handgun only because getting the licence is easy for them. Most of time kept in shelf unused(practice) make them how to go with while cleaning. Most of the fetal accidants happens with who are not well used to operate their wepons, sometimes forget following the steps in right way while doing cleaning. And the result?? A great loss by a innocent machanism.

Guys, I dont want to comment on the circumstances. Enough has been said about the past history, and the clout of the family.
Lenny is normally restraint personified. So I wonder what got his goat? the report, and the ? veracity-to us gun savvy lot, of the near impossibility of what was factualised.

Very Sad incident....May he RIP.
As an example of overcoming adversity, Karoly Takacs has few peers. He was part of Hungary’s world champion pistol-shooting team in 1938, when an army grenade exploded, crippling his right hand. Ten years later, having taught himself to shoot with his left, he won two gold medals in the rapid-fire class.

:agree: Must have been holding the pistol next to his ear and shaking it, to hear if there was a cartridge rattling in the chamber. May he rest in peace!
Hemingway managed to do it while cleaning a shotgun! (SxS).
Strange that is wasn't discussed widely. Do Indians have the worst possible Gun aptitude?
This wasn't tough to gauge. People close their eyes at the very sight of the word GUN.
Sad state.

Sad story. Feel bad for the family.

That being said, Sucide is an offence in India, and this is being brushed under the carpet, because one does not want to deal with legal issues and the influence exerted by the family. Understandable.

However I must remember not to clean weapons while loaded, especially using my head to hold the weapon steady.

Sucide is a permanent solution to a temporary problem. I do understand what it takes to actually take that final step. My condolences to the family.

You need to be careful ..a person died brother / a father accident or not the departed soul needs to be shown some respect no matter what the circumstances if you cant say something nice dont try then keep peace ...

This person happens to be son of ex Lok sabha Speaker of India Hon Balram Jakhar . This family commands a lot of respect in Punjab and Rajasthan for the work they did .

gajamacho,

shut the hell up... or you may kindly stand by our statement(s) elsewhere other than here.

Your family wouldn't have been too pleased with such ill considered utterances if you were in the deceased shoes.

Consider yourself warned.
