Modifications in looks and working of iof revolver/pistol

Post by indigo_indo » Mon Jan 17, 2011 7:43 pm

Hi pals ,

Recently i have seen a friend of mine wielding a modified iof revolver with chrome plating and wooden grips . When i asked about where did he got the work done he said that he got it dun from some Good person in Patiala .

Some of my friends from patiala speak high about mr bobby siddhu of patiala being expert gun smith so eventually i contacted the gentle man about prospects of improvements to be made in my awaited gun (iof .32 revolver ) here is the context of conversation with him .

1. Apart to the chrome plating of gun bright silver they also have many more finishes available.
2. They also undertake to remove rough machining marks which have been crudely left over buy iofb people on new weapons in state of sheer negligence and "sab chalta hai " atttitude ...
3.The basic working mechanism is also impoved by dismantling the whole gun and part by part reworking and remaking of gun into a more accurate and easy to operate gun.
4. the trigger pull ; as complained to be hard ; by many of my pals on this forum hve already complained ... can also be softened by of course reworking.
5. the Gun may need 10 ~ 20 days to remain under operation theater and intensive care unit.
6. the estimate of work can be from 6 k to 40 k ...
yaani jitna gur utna meethha...
7.they take garantee of their work and for the finish with a great confidence.

So in this light i would request the senior members about the advice and their expereince in this reagrd and guide me to go for getting operation done on my brand new weapon or not....

and oblige...

Information mentioned by you is correct. Many IFG members had got their IOF ashani pistols improved/refined by him. As per their posts they were happy with the work.

I'd suggest get the trigger and the internals done. The shiny stuff won't help in a gunfight, get adjustable sights added if possible. Bobby is really good at his stuff.

Dear sir,

as per mr bobby the whole iof merchandise is a scrap and needs to be reworked fully . As per him they will dismantle the whole gun ; remove the powder coating , sand blast each and every part and rework on every moving part to remove machining marks and stains ; then only the gun will be able to be repolished or given finish upto desired videshi type look. but if one agrees to go as per his wish i am sure " Dhaadhi se moochhein lambi ho jayeingi..."

for a gun of 84,000 he can rework to the extend of 40,000.....

i think you siggestion of going for trigger and minor internal mechanism and not complete overhoul without any reason...

thanking you

rohit

It's possible to plate yourself if you are a hardcore DIY geek. I've tried it previously with nice results, not on firearms though. Beware, a lot of "tune up" jobs on handguns screw up the tolerances so make sure the gunsmith knows what's he doing. Also how about removing the safety from IOF revolver?

EDIT: I just realized this post is more than a year old.
When I'll get to shoot a gun?
