I am also a life member of the nrai,and i have a talk with them they r giving the .3006 iof new rifle but with a waiting of 5to 6 months for 81,400 rs.and in maket i am getting this gun for 1.15k.so i am buying from the market,bcos waiting period is very much.

I too am a life member of the NRAI and had enquired with them (with a gent called Mr. Suresh in Stores) before purchasing mine in March last year. They hadn't got them then and they had no idea when they would come. Of course, should one decide to replace it now I could purchase it from NRAI, and make a small profit on the sale of the current one!

All said and done folks, enjoy with what you have, whether one purchases it from the NRAI or the open market. It's a wonderful rifle.

Heartiest congratulations on your purchase,its really is a good weapon as far as our market is concerned and beyond!as we all know its actual origin and let me tell you here, its very close to original rifle in terms of design maybe 90% or even close!.you have made a good choice.
however, there is a little bad improvement on the rifle than the earlier model, RFI has introduced the Dovetail on the receiver and that too with a .22 specifications!(these dovetails will not hold against the heavy recoil of 30-06 ammo that's guaranteed! don't mount scope wit 11mm dovetail mountings you'll spoil the scope!! ),Don't know who gives them these bizarre ideas,in fact the earlier receiver with straight round contour was much better for mounting a scope rather than these dovetails,and was giving the rifle a better straighter,cleaner profile.

I had this niggling doubt in my mind and therefore had asked Denzil to measure exactly the inner and topside dimensions. Ideally IOF should have placed the rail on top of the receiver. Guess the best I can think of are the Warne mounts and rings. If a person like Bobby can comment on this issue, it's best to accept it, knowing his work on IOF firearms. Another point is that the rear sight is also lifted straight from the IOF .22 and the scope covers then foul with the sight.

The Warne bases will not fit the 2010 model readily as they would the earlier models, the receiver is now has a 3/8" groove and the contour drops at the receiver ring as we can all see, the front base (Warne) will have to be taller than the rear, you will have to measure carefully and shim the front base to get both the bases leveled.

p.s- A small tip here. Use a good vernier caliper and measure the difference from the underside of the cutaway in the sides of the receiver at the rear with the upper jaw of the caliper touching the top of the receiver between screw holes. The measure the front in the same manner, the difference in measurements is the thickness of the shim you will need to put under the front base. Do this carefully and you're set to the rig up the scope, M3 Allen bolts work best, grind to correct length and its all done!

Your remarks come across as very abrasive and snide..example on another thread "bang away on the head of man eater"...dark humor can be appreciated sometimes but which part of the situation you dont understand on IOF monopoly in India 'beggars cant be choosers sadly in India' and folks have to make the best of the opportunity. Lets not belittle their efforts or make fun of their hard earned money ..So Take this as an advise not to push the envelope stick to constructive feedback

Somebody pl comment on the two fore and rear holes on the receiver. Can an additional rail be fixed, using these, to compensate for the drawbacks ,Bobbysindu mentioned?
