Post by Sakobav » Sat Dec 11, 2010 11:28 pm

I had made a pit stop at Cabela Hamburg PA
This was day before thanksgiving and I had only 15 minutes before the store closed.

I want it all!

BTW, it seems like all cabelas stores have the same layout.

WOW.
That's a lot of effort from your side ngrewal. Thanks so much for posting those snaps. For people living in India it is just unbelievable to see a shop like this one. The trophies look real and add beauty to the place.

Its been quiet a few years since I have been to one had to drive to Virginia so chose this route.

The ammo shelf was for .22 rimfire ammo. Another interesting thing was ran into some one who had worked in the same company as I did years ago. Hamburg is between Allentown and Harrisburg (PA) close to Amish country. Surprisingly saw quite a few Amish in Cabela. Their parking lot was huge close to 20 acres of land. A person could spend a day there and splurge also. I will post pictures of my spyderco knife and a Leupold binocs recommended by Abhijeet .

Xltarget - probably lives close to Owatonna MN location...he is probably at present digging himself out of blizzard ..

There is another one in Hartford CT and one slated for NJ. I came to know about Cabela when I was living in Minnesota they have one in Owatonna MN and new one north of Ninneapolis in Rogers from where I actually bought my Shotgun Beretta Onyx o/u thanks to John or Grumpy who found it and then FFL it to NYC shop.

Not a problem provided you have the paper work ...

ngrewal, Nice photos! Yes I live close to fantasyland (aka the Owatonna Cabelas store). Its about an hour away.

... and yes I spent most of the morning digging myself out of the blizzard we just had, I posted some photos here:

Hi Grewal,
Thanks a lot for the pictures, I am member of Cabela's club and have been with them for about 10 years now. All the trophies you see in their stores are real. I love that place. It is very bad for the pocket but good for your passion :)

Those are Great pics, I'm impressed that you drove that far for such a short visit. I have been to "fantasyland" the Owatonna one when I lived in Des Moines a couple of times. Where I live now, I have three Cabelas and two Bass Pros within 3 hours. When I go to Chicago (almost monthly), I stop by either the Cabelas or the Bass Pro on the way, the mounts and the aquariums are just awesome, especially the HUGE statue outside the store. You can see this one on Cabelas website. At the Bass pro, they publish the fish feeding times, if you're lucky to make the time, its amazing to see that. Its always good to be in that toy store :).

Cabela's is one of my favourite stores. I lived about an hour and a half from the one in Dundee,MI and went there as often as I could while I lived in the USA. The "Gun Library" was my version of heaven :D . Miss those days! :(
