Re: .22lr FM browning T boltaction vs CZ mark II rifle
Hi Prab and Capt plz dont take this the wrong way,its only in this part of the world that Brno in the 22 is the most sought after Gun.{ like Webley Scott in DBBLs 32s and 25s,Guys in the Airforce who used to go to Russia for training for MIGs got 22 Brnos,Biakal 12 Bores and TT 30 Pistols, for the simple reason that they were the easiest to source and the cheapest,I dont have anything against either but between Browning and Brno????????????????? } like Capt Sharma compared it to the Aks,its like the H & H of 22s, the reason being lack of other make of 22s,Prabdeep, Browning is one of the top manufacturers of firearms world wide,Browning is producing guns from Japan to Portugal, and the T Bolt is still a very sought after weapon. lets see what members who have access to some wider range of 22s have to say

I'd have to agree with Amit and Two Rivers. The Browning is the more desirable of the two. The CZ, while a fine rifle on its own, is no match for the Browning.
Its like comparing a Chevrolet to a Caddilac. They'll both do a similar job but the Caddy will get you there in style and luxury (maybe, LOL).
You also realize the modern (SINCE 1988) CZ firearms are made in Uhersky Brod and not in Brno anymore? The BRNO name is used on rifles made by CZUB.

XL:
Yes the Brno mark now is dead. In the Indian context I dont think you could get a Cz. Having said that, have you had the opportunity to use one of recent manufacture?
They are if anything probably more accurate than the Brno made ones.
That being said, the best caliber for traget shooting in India is the .375 HH or so it would seem to a rank outsider.

Wow didn't know that about BRNO The .22 rifle I have is a 2E Brno, made in 1993.I've used a Browning pump action .22 rifle too, accuracy was fine(not as good as the BRNO,more of my fault than the weapon's ).I would suggest that you try out both the weapons and see which one feels better in your hands, neither will let you down

Re: .22lr FM browning T boltaction vs CZ mark II rifle
MoA, First let me say I am an admirer of CZ's handguns but their rifles don't do too much for me. In answer to your question, I have fired a recent manufacture CZ452 in .22 LR. It didn't impress me as an exceptionally accurate rifle. The impression I got from shooting it was that it was an average rifle, accuracywise. I was not impressed by the trigger either, that is why I was so curious about the trigger when Baljit purchased his .17. This was scoped, from a rest at 50 yards. Keep in mind that this was a bone stock rifle and maybe it was an aberration but it really didn't do too much for me. At 50 yards, my 10-22 was just as if not more capable.
Granted, there could have been a number of factors at play like the choice of ammo, etc. but there it is. On the other hand, Baljit's rifle in .17 turned out to be quite a rifle. Maybe, its the shooter and not the gun. .
As an aside: At our club's silhouette shoots, the CZ's are very popular but the gun that won it this year was a heavily modified 10-22. In fact it was so modified, that you couldn't call it a Ruger anymore. The only part from the original rifle was the receiver and I'm sure the owner spent about twice what a CZ452 would have cost him.
Vrohan, CZ(ceska zbrojovka) in the Czech language simply means "Czech Arms Manufacturer". So you had CZ-UB, CZ-Brno (or just Zbojovka Brno), etc. According to CZ's official history, they consolidated the manufacture of firearms to CZ-UB in 1988. They do still use the Brno name in some lines and probably have for quite a while. As far as I can tell there is no large scale gun manufacturing in Brno anymore. Today, when someone mentions "CZ", they usually mean CZ-UB.
Here is the history of the Brno rifles from their website. Take a close look at the logos at the bottom of the page. You will clearly see the CZ-UB logo.

At the beginning of the 1970s the company invested in the construction of new premises for production of tools. During the 1980s the company Zbrojovka Brno manufactured mainly office, communication and computation technique, as well as diesel motors for tractors Zetor and special tools. At that time, hunting and sporting arms formed only a smaller part of the production volume In the 1990s the structure of the company changed radically, accompanied by abandonment of non-perspective production plants and reduction in labour force. Zbrojovka Brno changed into a joint-stock company with a significant concentration of owners.

Re: .22lr FM browning T boltaction vs CZ mark II rifle
My 452 gives me good accuracy, however is very finicky about ammo. And what works at 50 yards doesnt work at 100 and so on and so forth. True the 452's will not be competitive against customised weapons, but for an OOTB gun is diffcult to beat.
I have three Cz rifles and a couple of pistols. I do like them quite a bit.

Re: .22lr FM browning T boltaction vs CZ mark II rifle
i have fired both for the bolt action both are as good even my anchutz .22 semi and browning semi both sold for wearing out were as accurate most of the .22's are good for accuracy.once upon a time isold my browning semi for 1k amd bought .315 for 1100rs with 100 cartridges for rs100. all good days one good thing happened that due to sound warning factor my .315 is still mintable shot only about 50 rounds since 1972. cannot even imagine these days the price factor. all said and done we have no choice. india was always a good copycat but could never handle the quality part even the drdo? so we keep on importing cheaper stuff for the defence of the country.if we can launch satellites and build missiles why not small weapons of good quality? so many q's are there but what to do if we want to sleep over it.even pak is making better quality cottage industry weapons and many associated accessories. bye and thanks all ifgians
